Position Description:

Legrand Wiremold - West Hartford

 

The Human Resources Manager will primarily focus on the Labor Relations activities in the West Hartford factory.  This position will also manage and administer human resources services, programs, and processes to the Factory staff (salaried and hourly union) which include but are not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, workers compensation, safety and training.

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
  2. 5-10 years experience in Human Resources Management role
  3. Minimum 3 years labor relations experience in  role in a unionized environment (manufacturing preferred)
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).   Ability to present materials and speak effectively in front of large groups of associates.
  5. Ability to interact effectively with hourly associates and plant leaders and supervisors;
  6. Thorough working knowledge of human resources, including labor relations, labor and employment law, benefits, staffing, safety, and Workers’ Compensation regulations;
  7. Must demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness to work independently to accomplish goals.


Position Attributes:

Labor Relations

  • Manage and administer the Company’s labor relations programs, policies and procedures and proactively promote positive labor relations.  This position will interpret the collective bargaining agreement, administer the grievance procedures and assist all levels of management on labor matters. 
  • Participates in labor contract negotiations. May prepare contract agreements and memorandums of agreement.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to factory supervision/leadership in administration of union contract and maintenance of positive labor relations.

Employee Relations

  • Manage and administer programs, policies and procedures for the Factory salaried workforce. 

Workers Compensation

  • Investigate, report, and manage Workers Compensation claims and determines corrective action; takes action to minimize Workers Compensation costs.  Accurately maintain the Company’s safety records and OSHA log.

Safety

  • Takes a leadership role on the Company’s Safety Committee; review procedures and make recommendations to ensure a safe working environment.

Recruitment/Assimilation/Training

  • Recruit internal and external candidates to fill staffing requests.
  • Coordinates the orientation of new and reassigned associates (salaried and hourly) in the Factory.
  • Conducts and/or organizes company training programs for both hourly and salaried associates in the Factory for skill enhancement, career development, etc.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Coordinate the enrollment and delivery of the Company’s compensation and employee benefits programs

Legislative

  • Oversee all areas of Human Resources related to the Factory to assure that all federal, state, and local regulations are complied with.

Other

  • Ensures the documentation and maintenance of all hourly employment personnel, safety and workers compensation records.
  • Contribute to other projects as necessary to support West Hartford HR’s (Wiremold and LNA) Human Resources goals and initiatives.
