Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer Junior I to join the Data Power and Control ZPE Systems Team in Blumenau/SC, Brazil. The Software Engineer Junior role is designed for individuals who are beginning their professional careers in software development. This position focuses on learning, collaboration, and contributing to the team’s objectives while continuously developing technical and professional skills.

 

This role will be working on the ZPE Cloud project, a SaaS solution hosted on a cloud provider and integrated with Nodegrid OS. The engineer may contribute to:

  • The platform team, developing microservices and cloud-based systems, or
  • The embedded team, supporting integrations with Nodegrid OS (Linux-based OS for ZPE products)

We are looking for individuals with strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable code. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, open to feedback, and able to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Among the main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of ZPE Cloud features while learning best practices such as clean architecture and agile delivery.
  • Write and maintain code in languages such as Golang, Python, JavaScript, C, C++, and Bash.
  • Participate in code reviews, actively learning from feedback and improving code quality.
  • Assist in debugging and resolving issues, including customer-reported defects.
  • Develop and maintain unit tests and automated test suites (integration, performance, etc.)
  • Help maintain and update open-source dependencies to ensure security compliance.
  • Support implementation of monitoring, logging, and instrumentation for cloud services.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, ensuring clarity and maintainability.
  • Use modern tools, including AI-based assistants, to support daily development tasks (e.g., coding, debugging, and documentation).

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • +1-year experience in software development.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

 

These are the minimum skills we’re looking for in a good candidate:

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Golang, JavaScript, or C/C++.
  • Basic familiarity with Linux command line as a user.
  • Basic working proficiency.
  • Familiarity with Git and basic version control workflows (clone, commit, push, pull).
  • Basic ability to debug and fix issues in code.
  • Understanding of unit testing concepts and ability to write simple tests.
  • Exposure to code review practices.
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Clearly articulates ideas, asks questions, and shares progress.
  • Collaborates effectively, open to feedback, and works well in a team environment.
  • Approaches problems methodically and seeks guidance when needed.
  • Willing to learn new tools, technologies, and processes.
  • Able to manage tasks and deadlines with support.
