Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Taxation or Accounting is required.  A Masters Degree or CPA is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum 3-5 years experience in corporate tax, preferably with some Big 4 or Regional experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements. 
  • Knowledge of FAS 109 and Thompson Reuter’s OneSource Tax Compliance Software would be beneficial.
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.  Able to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. 
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Ability to handle highly sensitive material appropriately and maintain a high level of confidentiality is required. 
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment. Must be able to handle all types of personalities and relate to people at all levels of the organization. Represents respective executive staff in a highly professional manner.
  • Exceptional computer skills, extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and data base software, proficiency with various e-mail, calendaring, meeting management and related communications software. 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Able to provide clear and concise information and create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence. 

Position Attributes

 

Main Job Duties:

  • Review Quarterly federal & state estimate calculations and coordinate payment with Treasury
  • Preparation and Review of state extensions and prepare filings in tax software
  • Assist with monthly tax provision and JE prep; some FAS109 experience preferable
  • Maintain inventory of all deferred tax items
  • Prepare and review tax packages received from subsidiaries, both federal and state, and communicate directly with local Controllers regarding any questions
  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns
  • Data gathering related to Federal and/or State income tax audits
  • Responsible for maintenance of tax compliance calendar
  • Compile and review annual tax return backup (i.e. R&D credit, Manufacturing deductions, state apportionment)
  • Tax research and special projects when required
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required with minimal supervision
