Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Quality Assurance to join the Middle Atlantic Products Team in Fairfield, New Jersey. The individual in this role will develop, conduct, coordinate and overall administration of Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a multi-site international manufacturing/distribution organization. As well as drive continuous improvement as part of our integrated business process management systems approach. This will encompass all functional areas of the company at all MAP sites.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.)  from four-year college or university and ten years’ experience in Manufacturing, preferably in metal fabrication industry  OR  equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have clear understandable speaking ability.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which are necessary to communicate a vision for QMS and garner support for that vision across different departments, sites and other LNCA Business Units. 
  • Stand-up training, performance consulting, needs analysis, program design, and evaluation are essential.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Knowledge of more advanced Quality Tools (Six Sigma/Green-Black Belt/SPC/FMEA/DOE/Lean Principles) to assure continuous Improvement.
  • Knowledge of Test and reliability practices.
  • Project Management/Cross-Functional Team Management skills. 
  • Must have strong computer skills for developing and administering required training classes.
  • Must be accurate, dependable, and able to work well in a fast paced environment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Position Attributes

Main Activities:

Organization:      Supervisory/Management

Main Interface:    Including but not limited to: (Internal) Quality, Engineering, Operations Department (External) Suppliers domestic and internationally, Insurers, Regulators, Staff, Counsel

Budget:              Budget responsibilities to direct control to develop, manage and have accountability

Main Job Duties:

  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of the QMS. 
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures; ensures compliance with ISO-9001 and other applicable standards/regulations. 
  • Responsible for QA Engineering function which supports Quality Planning Activities including Test and Reliability, Development of test and inspection methods, CE product compliance efforts, etc.
  • Work to continuously improve all aspects of documented Quality Systems.
  • Promote an awareness of quality, training and safety requirements throughout the organization and facilitating Continuous Process Improvement using applicable methodologies. 
  • Plan, lead and overall facilitation of the Admin Kaizen Program.
  • As required, investigates customer complaints, RMA’s, internal non-conformances regarding quality and facilitates Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action.
  • Prime point of contact on Quality related issues with other LNCA Business Units.
  • As needed, conduct internal Quality and Safety Audits. 
  • Directly manage applicable aspects of Supplier Quality program including evaluating and qualifying both domestic and international suppliers. Work to develop suppliers QMS to improve incoming quality and Dock-To-Stock Program.   
  • Conduct and maintain appropriate sections of MAP’s New Employee Compliance Orientation Program. 
  • Prepares product and system quality reports (metrics) by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • As needed interface with insurers, regulators, staff, counsel, etc.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements that may affect MAP.
  • Keep the VP of Engineering and Quality Assurance informed of the status of QA program issues.
  • As needed, serve as backup for the VP of Engineering and Quality Assurance
  • Other Quality related duties as assigned.

       (1) QA Manager with Supervisor who has (4-5) QC Inspectors

       (3) QA Engineers

       (1) QA Technician
