Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Software Engineering Intern to join the Building Control Systems Team in Pleasant Grove, UT. Vantage, an award winning company based in Orem, Utah, is part of the global Legrand group. We develop and manufacture the most advanced lighting and automation systems for residential and commercial markets. Lighting, temperature, shading, audio, video, camera, and other features are all controlled through Vantage user interfaces, touch screens, tablets and mobile applications.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities needed:

  • Experience writing code in an integrated development environment
  • Familiarity with C based languages
  • Ability to creatively troubleshoot and solve programming problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office software
  • Interest in residential and commercial automation applications
  • Ability to own a project and work to make it succeed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of working to project deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Great attention to detail and ability to contribute openly with software and product development engineers and teams.
  • Demonstrate problem analysis and resolution at strategic and functional level.

Position Attributes

Where Vantage interns contribute:

  • Research and interface design for a wide variety of equipment APIs
  • Development of mobile applications for iOS and Android environments
  • Programming in scripting languages such as Pawn and QML
  • User interface designs and testing
  • Analysis and performance testing of interfaces, drivers and system devices
  • Designing small, self-contained, software projects from beginning to end
  • Design implementation and protocol documentation
  • Technical team support as well as Alpha and Beta test groups
  • Opportunities for other related software testing and development projects
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server project management
  • Utilization of the Scrum agile software development framework
