Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Applications Engineer to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in West Hartford, CT. System design, system layout and supporting component design using a combination of various CAD software and custom applications.

  • Associate Degree


  • 5 years experience in a related industry


  • Advance drafting skills
  • AutoCAD experience required
  • Ability to design parts in Solid Works.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to read and understand drawings (mechanical, electrical, architectural), complete take off’s, proposals, submittals and installation drawings as well as bills of material/cut lists
  • Ability to read and understand specs

Preferred - Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:


  • Bachelor of Science degree 
  • Electrical circuiting background 

Position Attributes

Main Job Duties:

  • Prepare proposals, submittals, installation drawings and manufacturing documentation using custom AutoCAD applications.
  • Design and provide details for manufacturing of custom products to meet customer job specific requirements using 3D modeling in Solid Works.   
  • Provide technical support for internal customers, as well as phone support for external customers.
  • Provide quote support by preparing material take off’s for various product families from customer provided electrical floor plans.
  • Job-site assistance for installation and/or product issues.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.
