Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the Data Communications Division in Farmingdale, NY. The individual in this role will assist in the completion of monthly financial reporting processes with a focus on accuracy and completeness. As well as preparing monthly journal entries and perform the accounting and control duties over the companies Fixed Assets and Inventory, including, the reconciliation of the Balance Sheet accounts.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and can effectively handle multiple priorities.  Ability to audit work to identify issues and implement processes improvements to prevent errors and develop efficiencies.  Strong cost accounting and general accounting experience required.
  • Ability to partner with other departments and interface with senior management.
  • Exceptional computer skills including working with Microsoft Excel is required and experience with an ERP, specifically ProfitKey or SAP is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation and to give and receive detailed/complex and sensitive information, and process that information appropriately.  Demonstrated ability to create reports, research variances and knowledge of database setup structures. Willingness to step in and assist with projects as necessary.
  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.

Position Attributes

 

Main Job Duties:

  1. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of the monthly close process including financial reporting to Data Communications Division
  2. Assist in all Group financial reporting through the timely and accurate completion of BPC COGS, fixed asset, inventory and purchasing schedules
  3. Analyze the financial trends of the business and communicate the meaning of those trends to management.
  4. Account Reconciliations and analysis for Balance Sheet Accounts
  5. Booking of General Ledger Journal Entries
  6. Work closely with AP to ensure proper coding of invoices and monitor expenses for capitalization requirements
  7. Assisting in audit preparation throughout the year as well as partner with internal control team and internal audit on audits and SOX testing
  8. Maintain the division’s detailed fixed asset sub-ledger and CIP, including the capitalization and retirement of assets
  9. Responsible for the Concur Travel and Expense process including month end accruals
  10. Focal point for the back office accounting for Data Communications Divison
  11. Assist management with financial reporting and analysis
  12. Collaborate with the operations team to create and implement inventory control processes and procedures to accurately report the value of inventory
  13. Implement cost accounting process and procedures to prepare reports for management to track the profitability of the various product lines
  14. Monthly sales commission reporting to management
  15. Ad hoc data requests and Special Projects
