Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Marketing Specialist to join the Legrand/Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. The Product Marketing Specialist is a developmental position targeting a near-term transition and promotion into a product manager role. Commercial and Residential products and markets will be the focus of this opportunity. This person will work closely with Product Line Management on key projects and product lines to be able to gain a strong understanding of market needs for Legrand/Wiremold products.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related technical field of study. 

Experience: 

  • Relevant experience in a sales or marketing related position is preferred, but not required.  Specific electrical product or electrical industry knowledge is an additional plus.  A desire to advance to Product Line management is a position requirement. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:   

  • Requires good organizational, analytical and time management skills, ability to pay close attention to detail and being able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • A high degree of energy and self-motivation to deliver a high level of productivity is important.  Some degree of travel is required in this position.
  • Ability and desire to learn about device product, product technology, planning and applications, as well as price/margin optimization are all requirements of this opportunity.  
  • Must become highly collaborative and be able to work with numerous functions within the company.  Legrand promotes an environment that is encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all other internal business partners.

Position Attributes

Main Activities: 

  • Organization:  Individual Contributor competency model.
  • Main Interface:  Internal – marketing teams within entity and across other brands, customer support and pricing, marketing communications, engineering, finance, operations and field sales force.  External – key ED and retail channel partners, outside advertising and marketing agencies, coordinators of national trade organizations, contacts at engineering firms and current/prospective suppliers.  
  • Budget:  Provides input to marketing budget for commercial and residential product lines.  Develops and contributes with annual Business Review – input with respect to marketing strategy, prospective market potential and key initiatives to be included in presentations made by PLM to executive team.  Manages to budget (sales, margin, pricing) during the fiscal year.
  • Main Job Duties:
  1. Product Specialist will play an important role in new product development and maintenance, product line administration, field sales and distribution channel support, forecasting, production planning, development of marketing communications collateral, promotion, packaging and pricing.
  2. Will report to and work closely with Product Line Manager on key projects and product lines, as well as to gain a strong understanding of market needs for Legrand/Wiremold products.
  3. Supports product development initiatives through field visits, meetings with customers (distributors, specifiers, end-users, initiate research with engineering & operations, etc ...) to maintain a constant flow of new products and product enhancements.
  4. Provides sales support and training for EWS field sales and customer support.  Responds to sales questions, prepare major launches and sales events (Nat Sales Conf, Road Shows, Business Review...), supports pricing strategy, travels with sales team, initiates and responds to training requests.
  5. Participates in catalog development, development of sell sheets, product bulletins and promotional campaigns with the sales and marcomm teams in support of product launches.
  6. Will attend monthly SO&P meetings, monitor and act on issues surrounding inventory levels, production capacity, service rates and aspects of production costs to meet or beat corporate targets for designated product lines.
  7. Will manage secondary product lines within first six months of assuming role – key activities include pruning of redundant and obsolete products, initiation of activities to enhance profitability, research for line extension opportunities and efforts to promote products often viewed as merely accessories or secondary in importance.   
  8. Complete critical product marketing tasks to help achieve sales and profit plans and reach targets set by major Legrand/Wiremold marketing initiatives.  Will support Product Line Manager with activities related to developing long term vision for designated product line, ensuring sustainable $ growth, market share and profitability, keeping abreast of the commercial and industrial markets, attending of trade events, competitive benchmarking, initiation and conducting of research into long-term trends and customer needs.
  9. Monitor & review product line performance & trends to evaluate budget throughout fiscal year.
  10. Performs other similar and related duties as required.
