Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join the Building Control Systems Team in Pleasant Grove, UT. The invidiual in this role is responsible for developing, driving and implementing the product line strategic plan for BCS’ Software product lines. Develops this plan in conjunction with the Software PM, the NLCS, Arch Dimming, Resi LCS and Shading Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • BS in Marketing, Business or Engineering
  • 1+ years experience in Marketing or Embedded Software including internships.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Electrical industry knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
  • Experience with a variety of product development processes (different forms of agile, waterfall, etc) a significant plus
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Slack, JIRA, TFS, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.  Promotes an environment that is encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all business partners.
  • Solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
  • Proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.

Position Attributes

Main Activities:

  • Organization: Individual Contributor competency model
  • Main Interface: Internal – Other product managers, product marketing managers, engineering, marketing teams within entity and across other brands, marketing communications, and sales.  External – customers, contractors, distributors, suppliers and vendors.
  • Main Job Duties:
  1. Product Development: field visits, meet with customers (ECs, Dealers, subs, specifiers, end-users), initiate market requirements documentation, and collaborate on market problems with engineering, etc ... to maintain a constant flow of new software products and product enhancements.
  2. Launch Coordination: together with hardware product managers, project managers and engineering leads, bring together system releases comprised of hardware, software, firmware and cloud products.
  3. Sales support & training: working with product marketing managers respond to sales questions, prepare major launches & sales events (Nat Sales Conf, Trade Shows, etc.), support pricing strategy, travel with PMMs and sales team, collaborate & respond to training requests.
  4. Promotional activities: working with product marketing managers, technical writers and marketing communications, participate in catalog development, coordinate development of installation instructions, product sell sheets, product bulletins & promotional campaigns to support product launches.
  5. Long-term planning: lead the long term vision for designated product line, ensuring sustainable $ growth, market share and profitability, keep an eye on the market: attend trade events, competitive benchmarking, initiate & conduct research into long-term trends & customer needs.
  6. Budget planning: monitor & review product line performance & trends to evaluate budget.
  7. Performs other similar and related duties as required.
