Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Entry Level Embedded Software Engineer to join the Home Systems Team in Middletown, PA location. The embedded software engineer will be responsible for developing next generation smart-home devices for home automation, audio, and lighting IoT systems. The successful candidate will help provide the technical expertise and leadership across all product lines of the Home Systems business unit. Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Have completed or are working towards a bachelor's Degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or computer science.
  • 1+ years experience, including internship, embedded software development using languages like C, C++, C#, or Java including software development life cycle models

Preferred experience with the following:

  • Understanding of the interface between system hardware and firmware.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Well-developed critical thinking capability to evaluate completeness of requirements.

Position Attributes

Main Job Duties

  • Develop software designs, coding, unit testing and integration of C and C++ language applications for an embedded system with and/or without an RTOS.
  • The radio technology will be 802.15.4 or 802.11.  Ideal candidate will understand Thread or WiFi.  Zigbee  or  WiFi STA development would also be acceptable.
  • High-level event control will be done using Open Connectivity Forum (OCF), and the Iotivity open source implementation of OCF.  The ideal candidate will understand Iotivity.  Zigbee HA or ZL would be acceptable.  Allseen Alliance Lighting knowledge would also be acceptable.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering team members to develop Board Support Packages (BSP), boot loaders, kernel revisions, and drivers.
  • Collaborate with Android and IOS application developers to integrate mobile devices into home automation, audio, and lighting product developments.
  • Support project planning efforts including task definition and work effort.
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend standard software development environment tools suitable for each project, articulating return of investment to management.
  • Implement build and configuration management automation techniques that enable the team to scale up the number of products covered and increase software quality.
