Position Description/Company Info

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in Syracuse, NY. The individual in this role will assist in the completion of monthly financial reporting processes with a focus on accuracy and completeness, prepare journal entries and Balance Sheet account reconciliations, complete analysis and compilation of financial data and provides assistance to all levels of management in understanding and interpreting financial results, budgets and related financial information and processes.

Qualifications

Education:   

  • BS Accounting/Finance
  • CPA certified or CPA Candidate

Preferred:   

  • MBA 

Experience:

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant experience

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.  Ability to audit work to identify issues and implement processes improvements to prevent errors and develop efficiencies.
  • Ability to partner with other departments and interface with senior management.
  • Exceptional computer skills including working with spreadsheets and data base software.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation and to give and receive detailed/complex and sensitive information, and process that information appropriately.  Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Willingness to step in and assist with projects as necessary.  Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.

 

Position Attributes

Main Job Duties:

  • Account Reconciliations and analysis for Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Booking of General Ledger Journal Entries
  • Fixed Asset maintenance
  • Assisting in audit preparation throughout the year
  • Audit various internal transaction to ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Record Intercompany Expense Transactions and complete Fiche process
  • Complete Multi State Sales and Use Tax returns and Property Tax Return
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends and anomalies, determine drivers and prepare summary of findings for review by top financial staff.
  • Reports, data requests (Taxes, FP&A) and Special Projects
  • Participate in annual finished goods inventory
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required
