Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Desktop Support Specialist to join the Finelite team in Union City, CA. The Desktop Support Specialist provides user support management of a Windows environment, which includes both client/server applications, desktop machines, and a mobile workforce that depends on access to critical business applications.

Finelite designs and manufactures high performance environmentally sustainable lighting solutions and products for commercial, educational and healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum 1 year involvement in Microsoft Active Directory network administration including DNS, DHCP and Group Policies, and experience with Microsoft Print Services. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Microsoft Exchange administration, SharePoint services, and experience in MS Server 2008/2013/2016 environment.
  • Associate’s level coursework or Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or MCSE, MCP, CCNA, other current technical certifications preferred.
  • Experience with the following desktop applications: Office 2007 or newer, Windows 7 or 10, MS Edge, IE, Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize and execute work assignments with a “can-do” attitude, and manage challenges, apply problem solving skills, and adaptable to changing priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Dependable team player with a professional appearance, demeanor, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, activities, or processes both within and outside the company.
  • Demonstrates good writing skills and has experience documenting policies, procedures, and issue resolutions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, with occasional evening and weekend work
  • Prior experience with the following:
    • Database administration such as MS SQL, Microsoft Access, Macola.
    • Network administration: Cisco/HP switches and routers
    • Security and Remote Access: SonicWALL firewall and VPN services, Radius/NPS services; MS RDP/Terminal services, and others
    • Handheld scanning devices

Position Attributes

Essential Functions to Include:

  • Responds to, prioritizes, evaluates, and troubleshoots incoming telephone, voice mail, email, and in person requests for problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer related issues.
  • Performs installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop computers and laptops, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
  • Trains and orients staff on use of hardware and software.
  • Recommends and performs upgrades on systems to ensure longevity.
  • Performs troubleshooting and problem resolution for local and remote users.
  • Performs system recoveries from virus and malware infections.
  • Inventory management of desktops, laptops, servers and other misc. computer equipment.
  • Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail or in-person communication, and provides feedback about user needs
