The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring that products are packaged according to given specifications, taking into account all customers, including Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Distribution, and the End User.

    Basic Qualifications:   

    • BS Degree in Engineering
    • 3+ years experience defining packaging for new product projects as well as changes to existing products.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • BS Degree in Packaging Engineering
    • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software, MS Office, and Bartender and related Label software.
    • Knowledge of different packaging options to provide solutions to meet the needs of Marketing, Manufacturing, Distribution and Customer. 
    • Oral and written communication skills. 
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, but also manage time independently on multiple projects at once.
    • Knowledge of Electro-Mechanical assemblies desired.

    Position Attributes

    Main Activities:

    • Organization:  Individual Contributor competency model
    • Main Interface: Internal – product engineering, marketing, industrial designers and manufacturing management.  External – vendors, suppliers and design consultants.
    • Budget: Develops and provides packaging estimates for engineering, manufacturing and marketing as needed.

    Main Job Duties:

    • Define packaging for new product projects.  Participate in cross functional team meetings.  Provide options to meet packaging needs.  Provide necessary packaging information for project milestones.  Work with vendors during packaging development process.  Create necessary packaging documentation.
    • Define and support packaging changes to existing products to meet cost and damage reduction targets.  Revise existing packaging documentation.  Develop new packaging documentation for existing product as required.  Work with vendors during packaging development process. Work with Engineering Team to revise Bills of Materials as required.
    • Maintain barcode/label software and create packaging labels for all manufacturing locations. Develop label specifications for new products.  Maintain and revise existing label specs and support labeling equipment up keep as required.  Develop new label formats as required to support manufacturing needs and reduce product costs.
    • Define and document packaging standards for new and existing products for the transportation and shipment of products.
    • Performs other similar and related duties as required.
