    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the Server Technology/Data Center Power & Control Team in Reno, NV. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work closely with the Product Management and Engineering Teams to develop new parts in PLM system and electromechanical assemblies including sheet metal fabrication drawings, finish drawings, cabling drawings, specification and source control drawings, and assembly drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software.

    • Working toward a Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering. (Junior or Senior preferred)


    • Experience using parametric modeling and CAD software. Autodesk Suite knowledge a plus.
    • Knowledge of drafting standards for mechanical parts and assemblies preferred.
    • Manufacturing experience in an industrial environment a plus.
    • Basic understanding of AC power, digital electronics, and PCB design software a plus.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access).

    Position Attributes


    • How to create, modify, and maintain Engineering documentation and BOM’s in a PLM system.
    • How to create engineering documentation, including functional wiring diagrams, power cord drawings, assembly drawings, specification and source control drawings using CAD software.
    • How to create sheet metal enclosures around electromechanical assemblies using CAD software and applying DFM principles
    • How to utilize CAD software to support manufacturing and customer documentation requirements
    • How to build and test electromechanical assemblies.
    • How conduct tests and collect data using test equipment
    • How to review BOM’s for accuracy and completeness, ensuring engineering drafting standards are met
    • Gain experience communicating with multiple departments to assist with order shipment.
