    Legrand, has an exciting opportunity for an Engineer, Design to join the Cablofil team in Mascoutah, IL. The individual in this role will be responsible for designing and developping product solutions to meet all customer requirements. This individual will interface directly with the production team to develop plans to improve and coordinate existing products and processes and coordinate new products with production floor for Mascoutah and Tijuana, Mx.

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3+ years experience in a design and/or manufacturing environment creating sketches, 3D files and prototype designs as well as developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods utilizing 3D CAD software.


    • High School Diploma with 8+ years' experience in a design and manufacturing environment creating sketches, 3D files and prototype designs as well as developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods utilizing 3D CAD software.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • SolidWorks preferred.
    • Solid understanding of engineering concepts, materials and manufacturing processes.
    • Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to practical problems.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.  
    • Be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment.  Fosters open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.  
    • Demonstrated creativity in the development of new product design concepts.  Ability to create sketches, 3D files and prototype designs to express all the different options that are used to satisfy the product requirements. 
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
    • Excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.

    Position Attributes

    Main Job Duties:

    • Create sketches, 3D files and prototype designs to provide different options that are used to satisfy the product requirements.
    • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, and materials to support cost improvements
    • Drive manufacturing cost product yield improvement projects through process improvements
    • Refine and complete the design through modeling, prototyping, testing, analysis, piloting and production refinement.  Work closely with Production team, Purchasing and tool shops to procure prototype and production product components and tooling.
    • Complete product documentation to support production, including engineering drawings and specifications, bills of materials, and quality requirements and testing.
    • Managing projects to rapid and effective completion including spanning departmental gaps.
    • Establishes engineering change notices (ECN) at both locations, while processing and incorporating the changes, ensuring the changes become effective
    • Confers with vendors to evaluate and recommends the proper equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production
    • Works with project services, production and purchasing to coordinate manufacture of customer special products
    • Creates assembly instructions for existing and new products to be manufactured
    • Continuously improve manufacturing processes by analyzing and planning work flow
    • Performs engineering activities in compliance with engineering principles, customer requirements, and related specifications
    • Execute projects to include defining the scope and conducting cost analysis
    • Support operational trouble shooting
