    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing/Quality Technology Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems team in West Hartford, CT. The intern will report to the Quality Department and support the creation and deployment of a variety of QC systematic check points to drive overall quality improvements. In this position you will be responsible for set-up, configuration, and support of the engineering technician services group. You will interface with Product Development, Operations, Quality, and Human Resources to streamline business and production processes, improve quality, and reduce operating and warranty costs.

    • Associates degree in a technical field


    • Must have a strong foundation of both hardware and software applications.
    • Basic CAD knowledge
    • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Capable of working in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to work well with others in team environment
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Must have excellent internal and external communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
    • Ability to work independently

    Preferred Skill/Experience:

    • Previous job experience using CAD or in a Quality field.
    • Exposure to Lean and Continuous Improvement Methodology
    • Understanding of Project Management functions.
    • Experienced use of tools such as micrometers, calipers, thread gauges
    • Blue print reading


    Position Attributes

    Major Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Daily cosmetic inspection of machined parts
    • Set-up and deployment of QC test programs (Comparator / CMM)
    • Process data as instructed by the engineering technicians
    • Taking pictures and updating documents as required
    • Potential implementation of process and equipment improvements
    • Further training of equipment will be provided


    Projects may include but are not limited to: 

    • Provide data analysis utilizing Excel and PowerPoint
    • Automating the tracking of QC results
    • Technical Drawing inspection
    • Writing Standard work documents
    • Issuing automated QC check programs to the floor for Comparator/CMM equipment
    • Support ISO implementation efforts as instructed by quality manager
