    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Lean/Continuous Improvement Intern to join the Electrical Wiring Systems team in West Hartford, CT. The intern will report to the Lean Manager and support the deployment and use of a variety of Continuous Improvement tools to drive improvement. In this position you will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement activities (Lean Six Sigma DMAIC projects and Kaizen events) for production and functional areas. You will interface with Product Development, Purchasing, Operations, Quality, Sales, and Human Resources to streamline business and production processes, improve quality, and reduce operating and warranty costs.

    • Currently enrolled in an accredited University or College; classified as Junior or above.
    • Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or other related field.


    • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
    • Exposure to Lean and Continuous Improvement Methodology
    • Capable of working in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to work well with others in team environment
    • Must have good knowledge of MS Office applications.
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Must have excellent internal and external communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
    • Ability to work independently

    Preferred Skill/Experience:

    • Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement: 1 year
    • Green Belt Certification or Training


    Position Attributes

    Major Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Utilize Lean tools and methodology to reduce waste, streamline processes, and improve quality process controls.
    • Provide support for 5S initiatives across the business
    • Assist in conducting Lean training.
    • Support communication efforts
    • Support improvement activities


    Projects may include but are not limited to: 

    • Managing Legrand AIM Suggestion process
    • Assist in factory layout optimization
    • Assist in creating new and/or editing existing training materials and standard work
    • Cell Design/Redesign
    • Provide data analysis utilizing Excel and PowerPoint
    • Assist Cell in preparation for CI Culture evaluations
