    Senior Tool Designer - First Shift

     

    Legrand has an exciting opportunity in West Hartford, CT for a Senior Tool Designer to join our Electrical Wiring Systems Team. Using your expertise in tool and die design, you’ll prepare layout drawings and detail drawings using advanced CADD systems. You will modify tool designs based on trial runs or production service data to improve tool life and performance. You will also also assist other designers with die design related issues.

     

    What Will You Do?

    • Draw preliminary sketches and prepare layout/detail drawings for complex progressive/secondary dies, four slide tooling, fixtures, assembly units and gages.
    • Review product specifications and engineering blueprints and collaborate with  engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve design issues.
    • Modifies tool designs according to trial runs or production service data to improve tool life and performance.
    • Review tool room manufacturing processes for effectiveness and feasibility.
    • Diagnose and solve tooling and engineering problems.
    • Analyze new tooling procedures and standards.
    • Lead Kaizen efforts to improve workflow of work.
    • Develop new techniques and processes on the CADD system to enhance tooling.
    • Assist other designers with die design related issues.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications 

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 8+ years experience in tooling/die design.
    • 8+ years of CADD experience.
    • At least three years die design experience using Solidworks or SolidEdge.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience troubleshooting die related problems.
    • Ability to analyze die design improvements.
    • Strong background in design of stamping and progressive dies.
    • Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational, communication and time management skills.
