    Legrand has an exciting career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Pinnacle Team in Denver, CO. The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Product Development Manager and is responsible for mechanical design and manufacturing support of Architectural Lighting Products. The mechanical engineer position requires that the desired person be able to expand upon concept designs to make them cost effective and simple to produce from a manufacturing standpoint, all while delivering or exceeding the expectations of the product scope. This Primary responsibility of this position is to provide engineering support to increase productivity and profitability of the company by designing cost effective engineered product and provide documentation to build products that meet our safety, quality, and cost targets set by the project scope.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 2+ years experience of design experience in developing new products and sheet medal design experience.  Solidworks

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with extrusion or casting parts
    • Microsoft office suite utilization.
    • Knowledge of project management methodology.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities from design to delivery.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent internal and external customer demands and requirement.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills.
    • Experience in lighting industry a plus.
    • UL1598 working knowledge a plus.
    • Microsoft Project a plus.
    • Design for Six Sigma knowledge a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.

     

    Position Attributes

    Main Job Duties:

    • Use Standard mechanical practices to develop concepts into standard offering that will be high/mid volume manufactured.
    • Create and maintain supporting document for new product offerings.
    • Improve upon existing processes to increase productivity and reduce development timelines.
    • Evaluate existing products to decrease cost and increase manufacturability.
    • Develop and maintain individual component/assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM) and routings for new and existing products.
    • Provide engineering support in design changes, as required and support ECR/ECO/ECN as they relate
    • Perform FMEA/PFMEA on proposed new designs and design changes.
    • Design and test to regulatory requirements (UL).
    • Conduct design and manufacturability reviews with appropriate stakeholders of the business.
