    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Shipping Manager to join the Finelite team in Union City, CA. The individual in this role is responsible for providing operational leadership in a high-volume, fast paced environment, administering all functions to ensure timely and accurate product receipt by our customers while making the most of internal resources and external partners. Provides strong leadership for Shipping & Kitting in the planning, directing, coordinating time-sensitive and cost effective logistics activities for multiple locations (Union City & Livermore).  The emphasis is on multi-taking and adjusting to changing priorities, efficiently communicating with staff and ensuring the start up and end of day shipping activities, administration of safety practices, new employee training, and team productivity.

    Basic Qualifictions:   

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • 4+ years’ experience in Logistics in a Manufacturing/Production Warehouse environment; College degree desired.
    • 2+ years’ prior Supervisory experience in a Manufacturing/Production Warehouse environment.  

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Ability to coach and guide staff, promote respect amongst employees.
    • Thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment, juggle multiple and changing priorities, react to change yet refocus quickly on the priorities at hand.
    • Detail-oriented: able to multi-task effectively and must be able to handle a fast paced environment without losing focus on details.
    • Demonstrated time management skills, high level of attention to detail.
    • Exhibit a service orientation with a “YES”, can do attitude for creating and implementing solutions. Exhibit high energy, drive and discipline to do whatever is necessary even if the task is less desirable.
    • Proven self-starter with a passion for continuous improvement.

    Position Attributes

    Main Job Duties:

    • Interface with Production Leadership to understand the production schedule and shipping priorities.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to Supervisory staff as they organize work assignments and daily Shipping activities.  
    • Must be able to get things done through others – leading, coaching, guiding, setting expectations, on the core functions of Shipping:
      • Job estimated accurately and the proper carrier identified.  Our non-standard pallets and rack shipping require excellent visualization and load estimating skills.
      • Rate quote bids from transportation carriers for each shipment; assigns and communicates those assignments to specific carriers, includes Less Than Truckload (LTT), range of sizes, small to large carriers with delivery across the US.
      • Orders are loaded on the designated carrier with the proper bill of lading, packing slip, hardware kit and documentation. Ensure loads fit without overage or underage, wasted space or rework to fit the order efficiently.
      • Accurate Bills of Lading to accompany every job; calculates insurance as needed, distributes copies to all the appropriate stakeholders.
      • Work Order Management System (WOMS), reviews the daily schedule and prioritizes and assigns jobs to specific employees to ensure orders are ready per shipping schedule.
      • Coordination with Hardware Kit assembly team and the Material Handler team to ensure every job moves out according to the schedule
      • Updating WOMS; creates and distributes the End of Day shipping report.
      • Maintains daily forklift check logs. Ensures that all forklift safety procedures are adhered to and keeps track of all maintenance/mechanical repairs for each lift (facilities?)
