    At a Glance

     

    Legrand, North America has an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Manager to join the Electrical Wiring Systems (EWS) division at our Concord, NC facility. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities across multiple businesses.  Additionally they will lead negotiations and contract development, achieve year-on-year improvement on total cost of ownership, monitor and drive supplier performance, manage supplier relationships for a portfolio of direct material commodities and improve working capital through inventory reduction and payment term improvements.  This indidvidual will also travel 20-25% to supplier sites as well as other EWS locations.

    What Will You Do?

     

    • Develop comprehensive supply chain strategies for assigned commodities that address quality, delivery, cost, inventory, sustainability and new product development.
    • Review and analyze current cost/spend for commodities, identify cost reduction opportunities, generate RFQ's, lead negotiations, manage supplier transitions and collaborate with engineering on VA/VE projects to achieve annual cost savings objectives.
    • Determine capacity of suppliers, understand their ability to support the business unit’s demand plan and drive actions to ensure service level goals are achieved.
    • Negotiate, develop and maintain purchasing contracts, non-disclosure agreements and supplier stocking agreements for assigned commodities.  
    • Oversee the management of supplier relationships in order to ensure that the organization receives maximum value in terms of price, quality, service, and reliability. Collaborate with suppliers and utilize lean tools to reduce lead-times and improve supplier performance.
    • Manage issues affected by market conditions and crisis situations as the need arises. Provide leadership and communication to appropriate interdepartmental personnel and suppliers to mitigate risk. 

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Engineering
    • 5+ years of supply chain, sourcing, or purchasing with 2 yrs of direct commodity experience handling commodity strategies, contract negotatoins and supply development.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree
    • ISM or APICS certification
    • Extensive knowledge of VA/VE and other cost take out methods
    • Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
    • Six Sigma/DMAIC/Lean knowledge and/or application is a plus
    • Perform Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) from S&OP outputs (production and inventory plans)
    • Ensure material availability for designated commodities.
    • Recommend order policy type including but not limited to Assemble to Order (ATO), Assemble to Stock (ATS), Configure to Order (CTO), and Engineer to Order (ETO), etc.
    • Analyze inventory levels and determine actions to either reduce or increase levels.
    • Ability to lead, manage, and direct multifunctional project teams.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to new opportunities in a fast paced environment.  
    • Proficient in negotiation, change management, and influencing skills.
    • Exceptional computer skills, extensive knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and data base software. 
    • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to effectively research and summarize information in an effective manner and make recommendations based upon analysis. 
    • Highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. 
    • Demonstrates ethical behavior as a sourcing professional.
