    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join the Wattstopper Team in Richardson, TX.  Provide support to sales team and channel partners. Act as primary liaison between partners, customers, sales reps, Engineering, and Product Marketing. Provide pre-sales product support and second-line post-sales support to sales reps, end users, and partners. Create proposals, deliver technical presentations on products and services. Respond to partner and customers’ technical questions and provide customer application and engineering support for cabinets, power and cooling solutions. .

     

    What Will You Do?

     

    Main Activities:

    • Organization: Individual Contributor competency model
    • Main Interface: Internal – Sales Reps, Engineering, and Product Marketing. External – customers, contractors, partners.

    Main Job Duties:

     

    1. Provide field representation to customers including field consultations for installers, installation work, start-up, troubleshooting, field change-orders, user orientation and training, warranty and repair service.
    2. Evaluate the functional status of installed products and systems. Identify, analyze, and resolve problems with control systems and products
    3. Provide careful documentation of work done in field service activities for billing, customer service and R&D purposes.
    4. Use technical drawing/diagrams, other documentation, and remote technical support to perform field service.
    5. Travel by road and occasionally by air, including some 8+ hour days and multi-day trips, to carry out field service activities.
    6. Provide technical support by telephone to installers, users and third-party service providers.
    7. Performs other similar and related duties as required.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills

     

      • Education: BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree 
      • Experience: At least four years of direct experience in the Data Communications industry as a Technical Sales Engineer 
      • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
      • Large commercial account experience.
      • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate at technical and non-technical levels.
      • Ability to work independently and to follow through on projects
      • Ability to read interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
      • RCDD and/or LAN Specialty certifications a plus.
      • CAD experience highly preferred.
      • Knowledge of sheet metal design.
      • Strong computer skills; particularly the use of Microsoft Office software with an emphasis on Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
      • Position requires significant travel
