    At a Glance


    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Lean Operations & Quality  to join the Pass & Seymour Team in Concord, NC or West Hartford, CT. Reporting to the VP Operations – EWS Division and working with various site leaders, this position is responsible for establishing the vision, roadmap, and culture required to achieve “zero quality defects” and eliminate all other forms of waste through Lean principles and strong continuous improvement culture.  This includes an “end to end” focus on lean & quality from our suppliers, through our mfg. processes, and ultimately to our customers.   It is expected for this role to drive implementation of various tools, processes, and training that will enable us to achieve our operational goals (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost Productivity, and Working Capital) in accordance with the Legrand Way Management system.


    What Will You Do? 

    1. Promote a strong continuous improvement culture.
    2. Drive implementation of the Legrand Way Management System throughout all locations.
    3. Establish and communicate the Division vision for utilizing lean principles and a continuous improvement culture to drive operational excellence.
    4. Work with the sites to develop and execute on a three-year roadmap to achieve our long term lean and quality vision as well as our short and medium term goals and objectives.
    5. Provide training & mentoring on various lean tools that will help us achieve our goals.
    6. Work with the sites to analyze data, identify areas of opportunity, and implement kaizen activities or corrective actions to address problem areas / opportunities.
    7. Lead and facilitate Kaizen events in support of our goals.
    8. Evaluate our organizational structure and recommend improvements to best utilize our Lean / CI and quality resources - including the evaluation of central vs local resources, use of plant “councils”, etc. 
    9. Work with the various site leaders to drive the use of standardized lean & quality tools, share best practices, and benchmark world class companies to achieve a higher level of operational excellence.   
    10. Coordinate activities related to addressing major customer quality issues with the various plant, business group, and Division resources. Communicate problem resolution to customers and senior management, as required, in a timely manner.    
    11. Assure the requirements of our ISO, and other quality management systems, are maintained. Includes the quality reporting, corrective/preventive actions, Internal Auditing System and customer complaint tracking.
    12. Directly manages EWS Division quality resources and provides indirect management for plant lean/CI & quality resources.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, promotional and salary recommendations, coaching and developing talent, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Establishes and maintains employee performance standards.  Works with employees to set goals and define development needs.  Provides ongoing, timely feedback and periodic formal performance evaluations, per company guidelines. 
    13. Performs various other similar duties as required.



    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline related to Operations, Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
    • 10 + years of experience in progressively responsible lean and quality related positions.
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Senior level, multi-site, lean and/or quality leadership role. 
    • 10-15 years experience in both a “make to stock” and “make to order”, discrete production and assembly, industrial environment. 


    Preferred Skills:


    • Six Sigma Green Belt is a must, Black Belt certification preferred
    • Masters Degree preferred,
    • Experience leading kaizen events and training teams on Lean principles.
    • Proven track record in complex, industrial manufacturing environments of leading the lean / quality efforts for major businesses/corporations, with demonstrated tangible improved results that positively impacted business efficiencies and costs.
    • Must possess deep knowledge of lean and quality tools and processes.
    • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use the internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
    • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.  Must have demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities.  
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. 
    • Able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence and be comfortable presenting such to senior Legrand leadership and key customers. Strong executive presence
    • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve stretch objectives by motivating and influencing others.
    • Travel:  50% to 75%, including travel to Mexico
