    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Cost Estimator to join theShading SystemsTeam in Scarborough, ON. The individual in this role will manage and coordinate customer requirements for custom or large projects from the design stage through the quotation, submittal and production. Particular care is taken to maximize margins.  

     

    What Will You Do?

     

    MAIN JOB DUTIES:

    • Review tender documents including specifications, drawings and addendums
    • Prepare estimates based on contract bids, drawings and specifications
    • Advise on tendering procedures, as well as examine and analyze tenders
    • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and project coordinators
    • Read, interpret and understand contract drawings and specifications. Preparing and maintainingbid packages and tender documents
    • Aid Architects and designers during design process to best suit product to specific site conditions 
    • Assisting and instructing customers on product requirements relating to electrical or mechanical aspects of the project
    • Contacting subcontractors and suppliers to ensure full understanding of scope of work
    • Reviewing and gaining knowledge of the project scope and specifications
    • Performing takeoffs
    • Performing cost estimation
    • Attending site-visits
    • Assisting with bid closings
    • Administers scope changes as required
    • Accountable for accuracy and completeness of tender submissions

    Qualifications

    Required Skills

     

    EDUCATION:

    • BS in engineering, architecture or related technical field or 3 years equivalent experience.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 1 or more years estimating experience. 
    • Ability to read Architectural, Engineering and Electrical drawings 

    SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:

     

    • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
    • Excellent math skills with strong attention to detail
    • Critical thinking and ability to use independent judgement
    • Work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
    • Estimating experience or expertise.  Ability to do take offs, and or design support.  Engineering Support.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.  Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft word, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. 
    • AutoCad experience a plus.
    • Must have strong analytical skills and proven ability to effectively research and summarize information in an effective manner.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
    • Strong customer service skills. 
    • Be highly collaborative and able to work in a team environment.
    • Possess G drivers license (or equivalent).
