    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director Lean and Continuous Improvement to join the Data Communications Team in Farmingdale,NY. The successful candidate will be

    reporting to the VP Operations, and working in conjunction with the various sites, lead the Division Lean / Continuous Improvement programs that will enable us to achieve our operational goals in Safety, Quality, Service, Cost Productivity, and Working Capital and become the “best in class” operational excellence leader in our industry.  

     

    What Will You Do?

     

    MAIN JOB DUTIES:

    1. Provides Division oversight of our cost productivity programs to ensure our year-end productivity goal is reached.
    2. Establish and communicate the Division vision for utilizing lean principles and a continuous improvement culture to drive operational excellence.
    3. Work with the various sites to achieve our short term and long term operational goals using lean tools & processes.
    4. Provide training & mentoring on various lean tools that will help us achieve our goals.
    5. Promote a strong continuous improvement culture.  
    6. Work with the various site lean leaders to implement standard tools & processes, share best practices, and benchmark world class companies in support of becoming the “best in class” operational excellence leader in our industry.  
    7. Analyze data, identify areas of opportunity, and target “Lean” events to support business goals at various sites.
    8. Improve the “Visual Factory” at various sites by incorporating management dashboards and visual indicators for “Standard Work”.
    9. Lead and facilitate Kaizen events in support of our goals.
    10. Provides Division oversight of our cost productivity programs to ensure our year-end productivity goal is reached. This includes working with the sites to maintain a robust project deck and identify additional projects, provide reporting on the status of our cost productivity and project deck, conduct monthly reviews with the sites on the status of their projects, and minimize unplanned cost “leakage”.
    11. Evaluate our organizational structure and recommend improvements to the deployment of our Lean / CI resources - including the evaluation of central vs local resources, use of lean “councils” , etc - to maximize our achievement of operational excellence.
    12. Performs other similar duties as required.
    13. Travel up to 50%.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills

     

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelors Degree in a science, engineering, math, business, or other technical related field.
    • Masters Degree in business or engineering is preferred

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Seven (7) years or more supporting Lean/CI activities in an industrial manufacturing & assembly environment are required.
    • Three (3) or more years in leading the Lean/CI function is also required, preferably in a multi-site operation.
    • Experience leading kaizens and training teams on lean principles & tools is a requirement.
    • Must have a proven “Lean”/Six Sigma success track record with progressive manufacturing organizations.

    SKILLS/KNOWELDGE/ABILITIES:

    • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
    • Must possess strong knowledge in lean tools & processes.
    • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.
    • Ability to use the internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
    • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
    • Must have demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
    • Able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence and be comfortable presenting such to senior Legrand leadership and key customers.
    • Strong executive presence.
    • Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
    • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, development and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
    • Manages staff, responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, promotional and salary recommendations, coaching and developing talent, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Coaches, trains and develops team members.
    • Establishes and maintains employee performance standards. Works with employees to set goals and define development needs. Provides ongoing, timely feedback and periodic formal performance evaluations, per company guidelines.
