Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Process Documentation Specialist to join the Finelite Team in Union City, CA.

Process Documentation Specialist Position Description: Working directly with Finelite’s Lean Manufacturing and Engineering departments, the Process Documentation Specialist (PDS) creates new and modifies existing Operational Method Sheets (OMSs) for Finelite’s production departments. The PDS assists with New Product Introductions (NPIs) and Pilot runs by developing DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) processes. In addition, the PDS will conduct time and labor studies to justify Return on Investments (ROIs) and production labor planning standards. The PDS will work with Finelite’s Lean and Facilities teams and reports to the Senior Manager of Lean Manufacturing.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Creates step-by-step work instructions or OMS documents based on Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering production templates (including NPIs, Pilot runs, and Custom jobs).
  • Works closely with the training coordinators to recognize factory training opportunities and create/modify OMS, assisting w/ training as necessary
  • Maintains up-to-date OMS database including: OMS documents, Instruction Sheets (ISs), Bills of Materials (BOMs), Critical Characteristics (CCs), and other supporting drawings.
  • Maintains OMS sequence of events for the assembly processes with input from Design Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Production, and Quality Assurance.
  • Partners w/ Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers to obtain and analyze information to verify completeness and accuracy of engineering data for transfer to Production personnel.
  • Observes and time documents workflows for labor studies.
  • Supports implementation phases of Lean projects such as, but not limited to: cell layout, OMS install, lamination, signage etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates degree or 4 years' work experience required. 
  • 1-3 years of broad technical experience 

 

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of broad technical experience in high volume manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office, including Outlook with an emphasis on Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks a plus).
  • Experience in production line training and work instruction documentation.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal): presentation, influencing peers and other department leaders.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to adjust to changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and possess a high degree of personal initiative.
  • Operate in a team environment and thrive in a diverse culture.
  • Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple duties/projects at one time.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and hours (occasional evening and weekend work).
  • Work environment is a combination of office and manufacturing facility. Light physical effort with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
