Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer II to join the Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI.

 

Key member of the electrical engineering group in the development, support, and coordination of New Product Development in the area of solid-state lighting with an emphasis on electrical products (PCB development, SW development, Electrical HW development). Position will also assist manager in facilitating product planning. Responsible for meeting schedules and technical product development. Position will also lead or participate in cost reduction and productivity process improvements as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, and develop new products meeting cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Design, testing, and validation of power supplies for lighting products.
  • Design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for lighting products.
  • Participate in defining scope and target objectives for new electrical designs.
  • Identify and support technical R&D projects with long-term IP value.
  • Initiate and coordinate new vendors and alternate components.
  • Lead/participate in cost reduction projects as required.
  • Lead/participate in productivity process improvements with manufacturing engineering.
  • Serve as a technical resource for purchasing.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior engineers.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Active participation in ongoing individual training/development programs.
  • Set goals and objectives with manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.
  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work area.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs, processes.
  • Perform backup functions to other team members and to immediate supervisor as instructed.
  • Engage in cross-training to support backup efforts as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 2+ years in an electrical engineering role.
  • Preferred working knowledge of LED lighting.
  • Working knowledge of PCB design software and schematic editor.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to develop technical project specifications, regularly interface with suppliers and customers, and provide internal and external product training.
  • Working knowledge of new product development and project management processes.
  • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
  • High level of creativity, self-initiative, and dependability.
  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
