Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant I to join the Lighting Sector Finelite Team in Union City, CA. The Accountant I is responsible for journal entries, G/L account reconciliations, cash application, sales tax accounts, provide support to the Finance Department to meet internal (Legrand) and external (audit/tax) reporting requirements

 

What Will You Do?

  • Gather, prepare, and enter journal entries, ensuring they are consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
  • Reconciliation and analysis of Balance Sheet Accounts including account reconciliations in CCH Workpaper Manager.
  • Responsible for intercompany billing, including confirming intercompany balances at month end.
  • Perform Daily Bank reconciliation.
  • Assist in tax preparations and filing activities.
  • Perform ad-hoc project analysis.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or related subject matter combined with experience.

Experience:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Requires close attention to detail, ability to audit work to identify issues and implement processes to prevent errors.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to analyze information and make recommendations on corrective action.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively. Company specific accounting and finance software and systems a plus (Macola, JD Edwards, SAP, BPC).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation and to give and receive detailed/complex and sensitive information, and process that information appropriately. Demonstrated ability to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence.
  • Basis understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
