Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager II to join the Building Control Systems Wattstopper Team in Richardson, TX. The Product Manager will play a key support role in the process of releasing new products to the production and sales departments. Other responsibilities include generating product requirements, reviewing customer specifications, generating materials for product introductions and technical support for customers and partners.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Participate in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, development, and manufacturing coordination for new and emerging products.
  • Coordinate technical product development, estimates of potential profits, and release to production.
  • Manage day-to-day progress of new product development, act as Product Owner within team.
  • Create and update Product Data Sheets.
  • Create and update part numbers in Customer Relations Management database.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to other departments in support of product development.
  • Conduct marketing analysis to develop product definitions.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Manage release process, release notes, partner training, staff training in support of product development.
  • Work with Field Team to ensure field issues are prioritized appropriately.
  • Competitor benchmarking.
  • Assist with market research and identify/track market trends in Company's industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology Diploma, or a combination of education and 5 + years of experience.

Experience:

  • Min. 5 years’ experience in marketing or related field. Specific building technology industry knowledge a plus.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer’s needs and identify new ways to serve/satisfy customer.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and manage to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and control a number of projects at various stages of work.
  • Experience with a variety of product development processes (different forms of agile, waterfall, etc.) a significant plus.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Slack, JIRA, TFS, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.
  • Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Promotes an environment that is encourages cohesiveness and fosters trust and open communication with team, peers and all business partners.
  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business. Must be proficient in negotiation and influencing skills.
