Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Wiring Devices Product Claims Manager (Partnerships & Intellectual Property) to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Pass & Seymour Team Remotely (ideal locations:  Syracuse, NY, Concord, NC, or Harrisburg, PA). The Product Claims Manager will be the technical liaison in support of litigation and subrogation claims for the Pass & Seymour business. Will interact with liability insurance carrier representatives, brokers, internal & external legal counsel, technical consultants and hired experts to manage sensitive and potentially high-risk field complaints and manage adjudication.

 

 

Main Job Duties:

 

  • Maintain communication of claim status with P&S leadership, internal legal counsel and when appropriate Legrand Corporate. Meet regularly with Finance Director to review claims and update recommended financial reserves. Manage communications on product complaints, lab test failures, other non-conformances, new product introductions.
  • Interact with liability insurance carrier representatives, brokers, internal & external legal counsel, technical consultants and hired experts to manage sensitive and potentially high-risk field complaints and manage adjudication.
  • Provide engineering specifications, documentation and product samples to assist in investigations. Assist outside counsel in replies to interrogatories and requests for production of documents from plaintiffs.
  • Participate in on-site C&O investigations as deemed appropriate / requested by carrier rep & experts.
  • Serve as ‘corporate representative’ in litigation, providing deposition when needed. Participate in mediation and other claim settlement discussions, as well as any claims reaching court.
  • Maintain ‘Product Liability Document’ files – (both hard copy and electronic).
  • Work closely with Director, Continuous Engineering, Director, Product Quality and others, as needed, to review complaints. Discuss possibility of product / production hold, inventory auditing, re-work plans, engineering changes and/or corrective actions required.
  • Initiate and lead ‘Steering Committee’ to discuss risks and any need for product withdrawal or other field / market recall with leadership and Legal when necessary.
  • Lead cross-functional team on any product recalls deemed necessary, working with outside counsel.
  • Work with outside counsel on analysis and response to any CPSC incident report notification – involve Engineering and other groups as needed. Work with engineering group and others on analysis and response to any UL incident report notification.
  • Attend conference calls on product on hold, product complaint review, new product gate review and offer guidance and opinion, or recommend escalation, as appropriate.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality and Product Managers in reviewing New Product Introduction documentation – label information, instructions sheets, etc.
  • Work closely with Technical Support group and others, in evaluating field requests for Labor re-imbursement. Communicate customer labor credits to stakeholders as required.
  • Manage the partnership process which includes identification, selection, validation, adoption, and inception stages of technology bricks, brand-labeled finished goods, contract manufacturers, and co-development agreements.
  • Provide strategic insight and guidance per business goals by leveraging each partner’s professional strengths – Expand and grow existing partnerships while continuously identifying potential new partners.
  • Actively work with Product Line Management and R&D functions to establish objectives, define strategies, develop governance, and track metrics associated with Partnership dynamics.
  • Facilitate communication between Legrand and strategic partners by defining needs, goals, expectations, and meeting cadence between the involved entities.
  • Develop and implement policies, strategies, processes, and best practices to protect and enforce Legrand’s intellectual property – maintain visibility of competitive landscape from traditional and non-traditional competitors.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • 4-year technical degree in engineering or related field.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years in a technical background that includes Engineering, Manufacturing & Quality Process understanding. Electrical Wiring Device product knowledge/familiarity and working knowledge of UL standards and testing related to electrical wiring devices is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in communicating technical information to non-technical audience, across organization and with outside personnel.
  • Ability to handle sensitive material appropriately and maintain high level of confidentiality. Ability to stay calm and react professionally in stressful situations.
  • Understanding of various product litigation and insurance subrogation processes is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills to collect, classify, analyse, and report information.
  • Experience in business management strategies and planning
  • MBA, a plus.
