Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manager to join the Starline Team of the Data Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating production floor activities, ensuring that customer expectations, quality objectives, productivity, and cost savings goals are met while providing a safe work environment for employees. The position will provide direct leadership to department supervisors, team leaders, and support production employees.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Main Activities:

· Organization: Team Leader Management

· Main Interface: Production, OPEX, Quality, Supply Chain, Inventory, Scheduling, Shipping, Human Resources, Finance, Sales and Customer Service.

· Budget: Develop operations budget and manage to budget for location

 

Main Job Duties:

· Oversees production management, including manufacturing operations, inventory, facilities, quality, supply chain and planning. Actively engages with direct reports and other departments to understand issues, analyze information and drive solutions/improvements.

· Continually reviews manufacturing processes and makes appropriate recommendations for lowering costs and improving productivity, efficiency, labor utilization and/or quality.

· Assists with the annual strategic and business planning process providing key inputs from the production operations. Develop metrics and ensure proper reporting to track the performance of the manufacturing operation against budget, including revenue projections, backlog action plans, schedule attainment, throughput, labor utilization, efficiency, scrap, and cost containment initiatives.

· Partners with Global OPEX manager to support and lead OPEX and lean initiatives, which drive process improvement. Champions and offers support for all Safety, Quality and Lean activities, including adoption and implementation of Legrand Way.

· Participates with and provides direction as necessary to shop floor supervisors in resolving immediate quality, production, scheduling, technical or personnel issues.

· Coordinates plant activities through collaboration with staff to ensure customer expectations are met and align with manufacturing and budget objectives. Resolves production scheduling problems by quickly analyzing information and implementing short term and long tern corrective actions. Proactively communicates information to peers and works on implementing solutions that satisfy all parties’ expectations. Keeps open dialog on improvement activities and key operational targets and objectives.

· Ensure personal and professional development of direct reports. Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports. Provide effective, constructive, and appropriate feedback and leadership to direct reports to foster positive, team atmosphere while establishing responsibilities and accountabilities that are clear and measurable.

· Actively oversees the inventory group, ensuring proper procedures are implemented to verify inventory accuracy.

· Timely communication of goal progress, roadblocks and solutions to Sr. Director of Global Operations.

· Ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, company, local and federal regulations.

· Active floor presence is required as well as holding regular meetings with employees on all shifts to ensure good communication, teamwork, and cooperation.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field. MBA a plus.

 

Experience:

· Minimum 15 years’ experience in manufacturing/production

· Minimum 7 years plant management experience in a production and/or manufacturing environment, including direct supervision of managing 250+ hourly and salaried employees

· LEAN (Value- Stream mapping) experience. Six- sigma a plus.

· SAP and/or ERP/MRP experience with the Production/Inventory/Quality modules

· Experience working within quality systems

· Demonstrated understanding and utilization of lean tools to help facilitate continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

· Detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills

· Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form

· Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team

· Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines

· Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law

· Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs

· Ability to operate/work in a high growth & entrepreneurial environment

· Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively

· Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment

· Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills

· Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
