Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA on a Hybrid schedule. These positions are all due to rapid business growth!!  

 

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for all purchasing necessary to keep the plant equipped with materials to service our customersResponsibilities will include ordering and expediting raw materials while balancing stock out and over-ordering to support production and New Product launches.   

 

What You Will Do? 

  • Plan, schedule, and manage purchase orders for production and NPD  
  • Monitor supplier prices and maintain cost control in collaboration with the sourcing teams  
  • Maintain a positive business relationship with suppliers, which includes communication with key contacts, pricing and supply discussions, identifying and disseminating new product opportunities to the appropriate people, and handling the resolution of quality and supply issues. 
  • Resolve situations related to material shortages, supplier quality, and delivery delaysCollaborate with Operation, Sourcing, Engineers, and Supplier to ensure suppliers perform  
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable/Receivables to resolve purchase price variations. 
  • Use category expertise and vendor-specific knowledge to manage inventory levels for all assigned items, suppliers, and categories while maintaining service level targets for our customers across multiple distribution centers. 
  • Deliver on KPIs for task-specific goals such as OTD, Days-Inventory-On-Hand, Excess and Obsolete Inventory (E&O), and Spoilage. 
  • Responsible for daily purchasing, including negotiating prices with suppliers and creating efficient purchase orders with our suppliers by analyzing economic order quantities, forecasts, lead times, vendor set-up, safety stock, etc. Receive confirmation, track orders, send invoices, arrange transportation, and resolve any issues promptly. 
  • Review projected out-of-stock reports proactively daily to ensure we deliver on customer order fulfillment. 
  • Establish sharp communication with internal partners about supplier production delays or order shortages while urgently pursuing recovery options. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to reduce overstock, slow-moving and obsolete inventory 

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:  

 

Education:    

  • 5 years experience purchasing materials. 
  • MRP or ERP software experience required, Infor Cloud preferred 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Management or equivalent experience 
  • CPM/PMP/APICS (CPIM or CSCP) certification preferred 
  • Experience with a high concentration in steel, copper or electronics markets preferred.   
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:  

  • Ability to come into the office in Canonsburg at least three times a week on a hybrid schedule 
  • Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities for multiple projects and assignments 
  • Strong desire to promote positive change 
  • Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally 10 - 15% 

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: 

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. 
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection. 
  • Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; ability to fly for extended periods of time 
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
