Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Technician to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA.

 

As a member of the Test Engineering team, the Test Engineering Technician position will support daily production testing of electromechanical assemblies and the implementation of automated manufacturing technologies through software and hardware system construction, validation, data collection, operator training, technical support, and maintenance.

 

Main Job Duties:

  • Maintain, upgrade, repair and troubleshoot production test system and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Validate functionality of software and hardware systems prior to deployment or following updates under direction and guidance of Test Engineers
  • Train team supervisors and operators on use of equipment
  • Provide on-demand technical support through Production Technology Help Desk
  • Respond to and troubleshoot all issues
  • Elevate issues to engineers, as necessary
  • Ensure all issues are addressed and closed
  • Maintain test equipment inventory
  • Maintain test equipment inventory database
  • Maintain stock of test equipment required for new equipment builds
  • Prepare ready-to-deploy spares for critical components
  • Ensure that equipment requiring calibration is up to date
  • Handle RMAs for equipment requiring repair
  • Assist in creating technical documentation such as drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, installation instructions and work instructions
  • Support maintenance of off-site test equipment located at Contract Manufacturers’ facilities
  • Assembly of test stations, fixtures, probes, and other custom-built equipment
  • Assist Test Engineers, as needed
  • Identify opportunities for new technologies and improvements
  • Flexible schedule to support the night shift and international operations, as necessary

 

Qualifications

Education:   

  • Two-year technical degree, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field, preferred, or equivalent experience.

Experience:  

  • Preferably 2 years in electrical/electronic testing or other relevant experience, but entry level is acceptable.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Fluent in English language
  • Exposure to manufacturing working environment would be preferable
  • Understanding of high-voltage electrical safety practices
  • Working knowledge of computers, including familiarity with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Proficient use of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to interface with frontline production team members in a professional manner in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Able to create technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and operating instructions/manuals
  • Clear, concise, and timely verbal and written skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in relation to electronics testing

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will regularly require exposure to manufacturing areas mandating the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate with others.
  • Regularly required to assemble, interact with, and perform maintenance on complex electrical hardware and equipment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Some travel may be required (up to 5%)
