Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager (Assembly Department/Area) to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Farmingdale, NY. This role is responsible for managing all operational aspects and outcomes for the assigned work center including safety, quality, delivery, continual improvement, maintenance, and team development.

 

What Will You Do?

 

  • Production Plan execution on work orders in a timely manner.
  • Proactivity preparation to lead the team to reach daily expected goals.
  • Establish and monitor overall work center performance related to safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
  • Prioritize and organize short and long-term goals and activities by business objectives.
  • Consistently monitor team performance to ensure duties are promptly and efficiently carried out by nurturing employee engagement and ensuring high motivation.
  • Plan, lead and manage staffing, equipment, and material resources, including labor overtime and expenses.
  • Champion lean manufacturing principles through daily coaching using lean tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvement relative to business objectives.
  • Ensure proper reporting of data necessary to track the performance of operations against budget.
  • Guide and mentor production supervisors to accomplish operational goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership, training, and development for direct reports.
  • Administer all policies in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.
  • Ensure effective communication both within the assigned team and between work centers throughout the business.
  • Coordinate work center activities through planning with management staff to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education: 

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, manufacturing operations or in related field is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant manufacturing or related experience is required.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Sheet metal fabrication experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bi-lingual (English – Spanish) is preferred.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, processes, and equipment.
  • A background in process improvement programs and quality initiatives is required.
  • Must be familiar with product construction and application.
  • Must have complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others, are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think at both a strategic and tactical level and must have solid business insight and understanding of various functional areas.
  • Requires excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must be meticulous and able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to manage effectively in a matrix organization, influence, and negotiate across boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and conflict-resolution skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment to foster open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
