Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sustaining Engineer to join the Lighting Sector Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI. Responsible for product design and modification to meet company and customer needs. Position will also assist Program Manager in facilitating product planning and development. Responsible for meeting schedules and technical product development. Position will also lead or participate in cost reduction and productivity process improvements as needed.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Manage product design throughout the product lifecycle, maintaining all cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
  • Primary interface between customer service and operations to create Bills of Material and Methods of Manufacturing for efficient product delivery.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to product specifications, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Lead and participate in cost reduction projects as required.
  • Lead and participate in productivity process improvements with manufacturing engineering.
  • Work with Interco on VAVE projects to reduce cost and labor.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Wipro and updating the ERP system for part entry.
  • Perform ECNs, drafting, documentation, and prototype construction.
  • Develop layouts and detailed drawings (flat, form, weld assemblies, etc.) using 3-D solid modeling software.
  • Preparation of required documentation, such as bills of material, detailed drawings, component specifications, packaging, specification sheets, instruction sheets, and engineering change notices.
  • Occasional domestic travel expected.

Qualifications

Critical Skills/Expertise

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience (within the lighting industry preferred).
  • Proficient in Inventor and/or Solid Works.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to determine the origin of problems and initiate corrective action.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction and other position-related tasks.
  • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
  • High level of self-initiative and dependability.
  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must possess positive, "can do" attitude.
