Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Assembly Supervisor to join the LNA Corporate AVD Team in Union, OH. This position is responsible for directing and supervising assembly personnel and all associated activities. Implement Lean manufacturing systems and strategy to ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide exceptional customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, reduce operating costs and lead times through continuous improvements. Oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly expectations.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Schedule shop floor work according to job priorities and reevaluate the work load numerous times throughout the day.
  • Monitor headcount and increase or decrease the work force utilizing a temporary work force to ensure sufficient capacity to meet internal and external customer’s needs.
  • Ensure that products and assemblies are made to print and are held to the highest quality standards.
  • Ensure that all assembly operators are following the proper processes and procedures that are required in the performance of their daily duties.
  • Work with the Assembly team and the Manufacturing Engineering team to analyze and solve work flow problems to maximize efficiency and product output.
  • Lead daily production meeting and provide status updates on sales orders that have missed their scheduled ship dates.
  • Direct the Returned Goods process and make sure that all RMA’s (Returned Material Authorization) are processed in a timely manner.
  • Review product replenishment reports for our local warehouses and coordinate the assembly and transferring of product to fulfill the product requirements in those warehouses.
  • Work with the inventory team to investigate inventory discrepancies and help identify the root cause for the discrepancy, and then implement procedural changes to eliminate these root cause issues.
  • Act as a liaison between multiple functional areas to resolve issues that affect the production and the delivery of product.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve shop floor metrics.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or concerns.
  • Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports.
  • Responsible for all aspects of performance management including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluations, and recognition.
  • Provide effective, constructive and appropriate feedback and leadership to direct reports to foster positive, team atmosphere; ensure personal and professional development of direct reports.
  • Initiate and assist with the creation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree with a minimum of (2) years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or 5-7 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems.

  • Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively.
  • Dependable and enthusiastic with the ability to use good judgment, work independently with minimal direction, and possess a strong initiative and positive attitude.

  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
  • Proven knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing Principles. (Kanban, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Single Piece Flow).
  • Understanding of MRP inputs and outputs.
  • Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Must be detailed orientated and have excellent follow-through skills.

  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system).

  • Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment.

  • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills.
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.

Special Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as required to support the core business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management and planning skills.
  • SAP Knowledge.
  • Production Planning system experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend/twist/stoop, squat/kneel, climb, and regularly lift/carry, up to 40 lbs as needed.
  • Regularly requires coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
  • Steel-toed shoes are required for working in this position.
  • Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment (no air conditioning).
  • May require regular ground travel to other company facilities.
