Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a US Controller to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in West Hartford, CT, OR Somerset, NJ. This role is responsible for directing the overall accounting functions for the business, by collecting and compiling financial data and overseeing the preparation of forecasts, tax filings, financial, budget, auditing, and other reports, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations and standards, and adhering to company policies and procedures.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Lead and manage the completion of monthly/annual financial closing activities, including review/approval of journal entries, provision calculations, payroll recording, account reconciliations, trend review analysis, management of allocations, etc.
  • Lead efforts to monitor and complete statutory audits, balance sheet reviews, and other related activities by supporting internal audits, corporate compliance, and annual self-assessments and ensuring remediation plans are defined and completed as needed.
  • Oversee all domestic and international tax matters, including Income, Sales & Use, GST/HST, VAT, audits, etc., leveraging company tax resources, as needed.
  • Oversee access to and use of the ERP system, and support the implementation and use of appropriate processes within the application.
  • Lead in the hiring, development, and management of employees in a shared services model designed to support the needs of a growing and expanding organization.
  • Assist in managing banking relationships and treasury functions, leveraging company treasury resources as needed.
  • Manage the shared services function (accounts payable and receivable) including credit management, cash application, collections, vendor invoice processing, vendor payments, received not invoiced management, vendor & customer setup, etc. with a strong focus on maximizing capital employed.
  • Support corporate and business-driven initiatives, like mergers, software implementations, new business model implementations, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance is required.
  • CPA licensed professional (in current standing) or an appropriate business MBA certification or equivalent demonstrated competency in financial and accounting matters is preferred.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant accounting experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years as a Controller or similar position is required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Understanding financial control and costing, particularly as it relates to manufacturing is required.
  • Proficiency in US GAAP, and IFRS and a good comprehension of internal control requirements are required.
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial and operations analyses/reports is required.
  • Must be able to assess complex business situations, evaluate initiatives/options, and communicate implications to financial and non-financial managers.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business plans is preferred.
  • Must have a broad general product and business knowledge to adequately interpret operating results, studies, and analyses.
  • The ability to drive business performance and challenge the status quo with a continuous improvement mindset is required.
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and have the ability to appropriately handle complex and confidential data.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills; professional presence and behavior.
  • Ability to work in a high-growth and entrepreneurial environment which requires agility.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and leverage additional resources as needed is required.
  • Manufacturing experience in a multi-site, multi-currency environment is preferred.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise judgment within generally defined policies to develop and implement strategies for results.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent follow-through and project management skills, and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently based on organization or department needs.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet, and MS Office Suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams is required.
  • ERP experience is required; SAP experience is preferred.
  • This position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.

Salary:  $160,000 - $175,000 per year
