Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern (Summer 2025) to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Cablofil Team in Mascoutah, IL. The Mechanical Engineer Intern will develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing/Logistics processes required to meet the needs of the operation for both existing and new processes. Assure processes support organizational goals for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Develop new, or improve existing, standard work for Production and Logistics operations.
  • Under supervision, utilize Lean manufacturing tools, such as Single-Piece Flow, 5-S, Visual Management Systems and Set Up Reductions.
  • Analyze production and logistics processes, and work with the management team to improve and standardize those processes.
  • Update existing standardize work to match latest changes.  
  • Support plant safety culture with continuous improvement activities that will result in reduction of potential injuries.
  • Develop and implement appropriate metrics to measure and monitor plant's continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performs technical assignments of simple to moderate complexity under supervision. 
  • Working independently or in a group setting as needed based on the assigned project.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

 

Education:

  • Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/ Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent).

Skills/Competencies (Include licenses or certifications required):

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Project management skills and Problem-solving ability.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts.
  • Teamwork skills.
