Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Industrial and Envionmental Health Safety Engineer II to join the team in Moreno Valley, CA.

 

The Industrial and Environmental Health Safety Engineer II is responsible for implementing and maintaining company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role involves the design and development of facilities, work areas, labor management tools, work procedures, process and efficiency improvements making environmental, health, and safety recommendations accordingly. Additionally, the role includes designing equipment or machine layouts to coordinate activities and production planning, project management ensuring products meet quality standards while minimizing production problems and costs.
 
Main Job Duties:
  • Policy Implementation and Maintenance:
    • Implement and maintain company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Prepare, maintain, input and update environmental policy and procedure manuals.
    • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
    • Serve as the contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Design and Development:
    • Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas, and work procedures.
    • Make environmental, health, and safety recommendations accordingly.
    • Design equipment or machine layouts to coordinate activities and production planning.
    • Develop and maintain process and procedure improvements for maximizing space, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Analyze and optimize processes to reduce waste and energy consumption.
    • Implement lean manufacturing principles and practices to enhance productivity.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades:
    • Lead and oversee maintenance and facilities projects equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    • Coordinate with outside services to schedule and perform regular equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Quality and Safety Compliance:
    • Collect data and report auditing metrics.
    • Ensure compliance with industry safety, design standards and guidelines specific to California.
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Conduct regular meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure good communication and compliance with policies.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop and deliver training programs related to operations, environmental, health, and safety regulations and best practices.
    • Provide ongoing support and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data.
    • Prepare and present reports to management on key performance indicators and compliance status.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Lead or participate in projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management:
    • Work with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards and for operational projects and improvements
    • Evaluate and select vendors based on guidelines.
  • Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of operations.
    • Promote and support company-wide sustainability goals and objectives.
 

Salary Range: 92,000-105,000

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
 
ExperienceTypically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function and is occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
 
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in designing and developing facilities and work procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with close attention to detail.
