Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Human Resources (HR) Intern (Summer 2025) to join the Logistics HR team in Fort Mill, SC. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience within the distribution and logistics industry while contributing to the improvement of critical HR functions. The HR Intern will take ownership of key projects over a three-month period and play an integral role in ensuring compliance across HR functions, supporting the recruitment and onboarding processes, and assisting with auditing of employee and system records.

 

Recruiting

  • Conduct a thorough review of all current job descriptions within the logistics to ensure alignment with the role requirements and company standards.
  • Collaborate with team leads and supervisors to gather information about the core skills, qualifications, and responsibilities needed for each position.
  • Identify and list the tools, resources, and systems required for each position, including software, equipment, and applications.
  • Update or create job descriptions in a consistent format, ensuring clarity and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Onboarding

  • Evaluate current offer letters to ensure they are clear, consistent, and aligned with company policies and make the necessary updates as necessary to reflect any changes in compensation, benefits, or legal requirements.
  • Develop a comprehensive checklist for hourly employees that includes all necessary steps for a smooth onboarding experience and transition from temporary to Legrand, such as completing required forms, accessing HRIS systems and benefits, reviewing job-specific duties (including tools, systems, and resources), and introducing key team members.
  • Draft welcome letters for new hires, ensuring they feel valued and informed about their first day, company culture, and team expectations.
  • Establish a framework for new hire 30, 60, 90-day check-ins with team leads, trainers, supervisors, and HR to ensure that new employees receive adequate support, training, and feedback.
  • Assist in gathering feedback from recent new hires about their onboarding experience to identify areas of opportunity

Compliance

  • Review the HRIS system to verify that all employees are assigned to the correct entitlement policies, such as health insurance, paid time off, and retirement benefits. Ensure employees are enrolled in the appropriate plans based on their role, status, and eligibility.
  • Check that each employee’s emergency contact and personal contact information (phone number, email, address) are up to date in the HRIS system.
  • Ensure that each employee has current beneficiary information on file and required documentation for benefits like life insurance, retirement plans, and other applicable benefits.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in HR or administration is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude and willingness to learn.

Work Environment:

  • This is an onsite internship with exposure to the distribution floor, providing an opportunity to interact with employees from various roles within the distribution center.
  • Internship duration: [3 months (May-August)]
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday
