Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Field Sales Engineer to join the Data Power and Control Team in Farmingdale, NY. The Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for all of the technical aspects of our sales cycle specifically pertaining to our client’s needs with focus towards DPC’s Usystems and Legrand product integrations across the United States. The Field Sales Engineer must be both technically skilled and sales proficient with a strong understanding and alignment with the sales objectives as well as DPC’s engineering capabilities in order to deliver an effective solution to the customer’s needs. This remote position requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in the data center industry to drive revenue growth, build strong customer relationships, and promote Usystems’ innovative solutions in data center power and cooling. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, adept at managing a remote role with significant travel, and passionate about delivering exceptional results in a fast-paced, technical environment.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Consult directly with customers to explain the technical and practical aspects of DPC’s products and capabilities.
  • Identifying feature requirements, architect practical and workable solutions, uncover hidden opportunities.
  • Participates in managing and developing customer and partner relationships for long-term growth, new business discovery and long-term success.
  • Directly assist in the project management of proof of concept and product evaluations.
  • Execute a national sales strategy to achieve revenue targets for the Usystems Business Unit, focusing RDHx and liquid cooling solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, product management, and technical support, to align sales efforts with customer needs and product capabilities.
  • Provide expert guidance to customers on Usystems’ solutions, leveraging a strong technical understanding to address complex data center cooling challenges.
  • Represent Legrand at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies and product development.
  • Prepare and deliver sales forecasts, reports, and presentations to senior leadership.
  • Manage and mentor regional sales representatives or channel partners as needed to ensure consistent performance and alignment with business goals.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 5+ years of sales experience in the data center industry, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of data center power and cooling systems, including UPS, PDUs, thermal management, and related infrastructure solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to thrive in a remote work environment and manage a demanding travel schedule.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Existing network of contacts within the data center industry is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.

Travel Requirements:

  • This role requires up to 75% travel within the USA to meet with customers, attend industry events, and support regional sales initiatives.
