Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Associate to join the Power Data and Control/ Power Access and Control Team in Reno, NV. Under the direction of the Operational Excellence Manager, the Sustainability Associate will support various Legrand DPC North American Operations departments by advancing site-level environmental and sustainability initiatives. The role will focus on reducing waste, conserving resources, and enhancing environmental compliance within a manufacturing environment. The Sustainability Associate, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive work environment, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

 

Main Activities:

Organization:   DPC, PAC Operations.

Main Interface: VP of Global Operations, General Managers, Health & Safety, Facilities, various Managers of all support departments, as well as Peers across LNCA and Legrand.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Main Job Duties:

  • Identify and manage projects that improve energy efficiency, reduce water consumption, and minimize waste.
  • Lead environmental assessments and Kaizen events to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Build a culture of sustainability through awareness campaigns, training, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain and improve the site’s ISO 14001 environmental requirements.
  • Assist with audits, documentation, corrective actions, and tracking of initiatives.
  • Support adherence to local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Collect, analyze, and report daily, monthly, and quarterly environmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Create and maintain visual management tools and dashboards to track KPIs.
  • Support the Health & Safety team on audits, documentation, inspections, and improvement projects.
  • Display original thinking and creativity; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:   

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University with an emphasis in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, occupational health & safety, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:  

  • 1-3 years of related experience in environmental sustainability, compliance, or health and safety.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting projects related to energy reduction or process improvement.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 is a plus.
  • Storing & Shipping Hazardous Waste – Ops (RCRA & DOT) certification a plus.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Strong interest in environmental sustainability, resource conservation, and operational improvement.
  • Understanding of environmental management systems (ISO 14001, ISO45001).
  • Computer proficient with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams/PowerPoint).
  • Develop and maintain all relevant reports including compiling data into actionable information and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across departments (Production, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, Sales).
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
  • Organizational and planning skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Work environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly.  All employees are expected to go outside their primary responsibilities when required, and multi-task job duties on a regular basis.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
