Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to join the LNA Corporate Team. This is a remote position. The Sr. Manager, Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will undertake duties to achieve LNCA EHS objectives, enhance operational performance, ensure the health and safety of Legrand & temporary/contract personnel, on-site suppliers and contractors and ensure attainment of Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety System objectives in alignment with Legrand Corporate Social Responsibility goals at assigned region and/or as deemed necessary by the Director of EHS.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Environmental Management:

  • Responsible for maintenance and development of the ISO 14001 environmental management system (EMS) including review and update of EMS environmental aspects, risks, opportunities, key issues, ensuring the incorporation of sustainability objectives into the system, managing the conduct of the internal audit process to drive continual improvement, enhancing understanding of system requirements across the organization, ensuring identified corrective actions are implemented and effective, and conducting the corporate management review meeting with top leadership at certified sites.
  • Manage 3rd party Certification Body contractual certification agreements that includes adjustments to audit schedules, addition of new sites to the EMS scope, and scheduling of auditors to conduct required audits. Coordinate 3rd party audit schedules at applicable sites, host 3rd party certification audits and act as a guide for on-site audits and provide guidance and support to audited sites. Ensure timely response to all identified non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are completed and implemented and required documentation in created and maintained.
  • Support the Director for Environment, Health & Safety in EMS scope expansion activities and update applicable EMS documentation in support of the scope expansion activity.
  • Lead corporate EMS annual site review sessions to ensure site conformance with EMS objectives, aspects and impacts are current and appropriate operational controls are in place, ensure compliance to applicable regulatory and other requirements, and ensure that actions to address identified risks and opportunities are identified and completed.
  • Manage the internal reporting process and databases for energy/carbon, waste and water; ensure adherence to LNCA environmental policies and manage the process to update such policies as directed by the Director EHS and Corporate Energy Manager.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with EMS site representatives to help them achieve annual energy, waste, water targets, and continuously improve the performance of the environmental management system by addressing/minimizing non-conformities and supporting root cause analysis.
  • With the support of the Director, EHS, direct the site level Environmental reporting activity to Legrand Group to ensure timely and accurate reports. Ensure site responsibility for reporting is assigned, access to reporting system is available, and review and approve site reports. Develop and deliver training on reporting requirements/process to new hires and acquisitions. Proactively seek opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Circular Economy, to raise awareness and cooperation in the pursuit of waste minimization and carbon reduction in manufacturing processes.
  • Assist in the implementation of company-wide energy savings/sustainability competitions.

Health & Safety Management:

  • Responsible for the maintenance and development of the ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) including review and update of OHSMS job hazards, risks, opportunities, key issues, ensuring the incorporation of sustainability objectives into the system, managing the internal audit process to drive continual improvement, enhancing understanding of system requirements across the organization, ensuring identified corrective actions are implemented and effective, and conducting the corporate management review meeting with top leadership at certified sites.

  • Lead corporate OHS MS annual site review sessions to ensure site conformance with OHS MS objectives, job hazard assessments are current and appropriate operational controls are in place, ensure compliance to applicable regulatory and other requirements, and ensure that actions to address identified risks and opportunities are identified and completed.
  • Support the Director for Environment, Health & Safety in OHS MS scope expansion activities and update applicable OHS MS documentation in support of the scope expansion activity.
  • Assist the EHS Director to conduct site health and safety assessments and audits and participate as necessary in local safety meetings virtually or in person as schedule and budgets permit.
  • Conduct regular analysis of health and safety incident data and determination of root cause.
  • Support the conduct of incident investigations and the determination of appropriate corrective or preventative measures; ensure accountability for sites, as needed, in implementing remedial action.
  • Contribute to the development, delivery of training and internal communications for the Legrand Way for Health & Safety, and ISO 45001.
  • Work with the EHS Director to evaluate, develop and implement company-wide adoption of Environmental, Health and Safety metrics and provide direction and the necessary training for plant personnel to effectively interpret and report results.
  • With the support of the Director, EHS, direct the site level H&S reporting activity to Legrand Group to ensure timely and accurate reports. Ensure site responsibility for reporting is assigned, access to reporting system is available, and review and approve site reports. Develop and deliver training on reporting requirements/process to new hires and acquisitions. Proactively seek opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Undertake benchmarking and research to support the development of internal H&S policies, including but not limited to Workplace Violence and Emergency/Disaster Response.
  • Take the lead in management of tools used to track H&S data and provide direction to the organization in their proper use. Participate in data management tools evaluation and selection processes by monitoring the reporting needs of the organization and the available solutions available internally or in the marketplace.
  • With guidance from the VP, Sustainability and Director, EHS, contribute to the organization of the annual LNCA EHS Summit; LNCA Environmental Health & Safety meetings; LNCA EH&S Steering Committee meetings, and EMS and OHSMS Management Reviews.

Other:

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating relevant information in EH&S tools including the Safety Management System, EHS SharePoint sites, and Smartsheet; and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of EH&S information in Legrand Group reporting tools (Enablon).
  • Contribute to broader CSR and sustainability initiatives as a member of the corporate sustainability team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s/ Degree (Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or other related degree).

Experience:

  • 5+ years-experience leading Environmental, Health & Safety programs in a manufacturing and/or large distribution center environment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Passion for ensuring the well-being of people and reduction of the environmental footprint of operations; demonstrated understanding of the concept of sustainability; desire to build a best in class EHS program.
  • Self-starter capable of proactively assessing situations, identifying required actions, and recommending a course of action in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent analytical skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, can multi-task and independently manage projects.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety and environmental management concepts, regulations and practices or demonstrated aptitude to learn and apply.
  • Experience with leading management systems in an operations environment (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Superior computer and software skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; attention to detail and consistent follow-up.
  • Ability to relate/communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and inspire others to take action.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (estimated 25-35%).

Additional Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Certified ISO 14001 and/or 45001 Auditor.
  • EHS Certifications preferred.
