Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Intern to join the Data, Power and Control  Team in Reno, NV. Under general supervision of the Operations Engineering Senior Manager, the Test Intern will support the Operations Department by ensuring new products have proper test procedures defined and implemented prior to new product release. The Test & Validation Technician is an entry level position that will ensure that all regulatory and manufacturing tests/standards are complied with on new and existing products and components to ensure high quality products.  The Test & Validation Technician ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures and goals. The Test Intern, as with all members of the Server Technology Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

 

What Will You Do?

 

  • Assist with developing and executing test plans for printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Assist with designing, building, and testing manufacturing fixtures to ease product assembly.
  • Assist with developing documents and methods for process improvement, control and accuracy.
  • Diagnose and correct faults in prototype PCAs and finished products.
  • Troubleshoot analog and digital test items.
  • Assist in the setup and running of R&D experiments under the direction of engineering personnel.
  • Maintain and organize the engineering lab and test validation inventory as instructed by operations engineering personnel.
  • Promote positive company user relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting employees when appropriate.
  • Display original thinking and creativity; Meet challenges with resourcefulness; Generate suggestions for improving work; Develop innovative approaches and ideas.
  • Display willingness to make decisions; Exhibit sound and accurate judgment; Support and explain reasoning for decisions; Include appropriate people in decision-making process (specifically Department Managers); Make timely decisions.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:   

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Currently enrolled in an engineering BS program (expected graduation in 2026 or 2027).

 

Experience:  

None required.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Basic electrical understanding/knowledge.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the company.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills and the ability to work independently.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Ability to use electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, meters, function generators, etc.
  • Working knowledge of analog, digital, and microprocessor circuits.
  • Experience soldering and reworking fine pitch SMT circuit components.
  • Experience working on live high voltage circuits.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards and audit process.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Work environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly.  All employees are expected to go outside their primary responsibilities when required, and multi-task job duties on a regular basis.  While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
