Position Description

At a Glance

 

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Tool and Die Maker to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. The Tool and Die Maker will provide production support through tool and die making activities.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Perform precision grinding, milling, polishing and other machining operations to make or repair tool components.
  • Fabricate and maintain dies, punches, forms, and other components in stamping and forming tools; components for and complete assemblies of jigs, fixtures, gauges and other applications.
  • Assemble manufactured parts into working production tooling, fixtures, etc.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, specifications and verbal instructions.
  • Set up and operate machine tools and hand tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production tools.
  • Make own setups on CNC equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Comply with all OSHA and company safety procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Tool and Die Journeyperson State of Connecticut (other states considered).

Experience:

  • Experience with turning, milling, drilling, grinding, both manually operated and CNC equipment, to precision tolerances.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, using precision measurement devices.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing production tools.
  • Excellent math, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and associated specifications.
  • Basic understanding of Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Lean Manufacturing concepts (i.e. Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, 5S, etc).
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic/production oriented Minimum Requirements:
    1. Must know how to use all applicable tools and measuring devices to perform the work.
    2. Must maintain current licensing or certification required for the performance of assigned tasks.
    3. Must know and follow all applicable OSHA and Company safety policies, practices and procedures.

Essential Mental Functions:

    1. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams as needed.
    2. Must be able to solve mathematical equations.
    3. Must be able to read and follow established job procedures and check lists.

Pay Range: $34.80-$41.80/hr.
