Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Global New Product (NPD) Sourcing Specialist to join the Data Center Power and Control Division Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Global NPD Sourcing Specialist at Starline plays a key role in supporting global sourcing initiatives for new product development across Starline’s global manufacturing operations. This position ensures that product launches are cost-effective, timely, and compliant with relevant standards. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, the role demands strong expertise in supplier management, compliance assurance, and project execution. The Specialist is responsible for ensuring that newly developed products are seamlessly transitioned from NPD to full-scale production, enabling efficient factory operations. This role will be on-site at Starline Headquarters in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. 

 

What Will You Do?

  • Lead global sourcing projects, providing regular updates, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation plans. Serve as the primary point of contact for all supply chain-related needs within NPD initiatives.
  • Support supplier negotiations for parts, tooling, and project timelines to ensure NPD launches meet cost, schedule, and specification targets. Collaborate with Site Sourcing Leads on RFQs and negotiations.
  • Maintain and update project trackers with input from Site Sourcing Leads, ensuring timely communication with the Project Team.
  • Collaborate with global sourcing leads (UK, US, Singapore, Mexico) to conduct RFQs and analyze supplier quotations using the Legrand LCC tool. Collaborate with site sourcing leaders to evaluate part/component costs and implement multi-sourcing strategies to mitigate risks and ensure timely project delivery.
  • Issue purchase orders for critical components, pilot builds, prototypes, and tooling. Expedite material deliveries to support on-time NPD launches.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including product development, engineering, operations, site sourcing, and supply chain (purchasing), to implement supplier strategies that support the full product lifecycle and minimize supply risks for NPD.
  • Work with the product and engineering teams on regulatory requirements for supplier and part selection during NPD.
  • Collaborate with DPC and LNCA CSR team and stay informed on evolving environmental and safety regulations (e.g., PFAS) and ensure supplier adherence.
  • Review and verify supplier material declarations, including chemical composition and compliance with REACH, RoHS, and other applicable regulations. Maintain accurate compliance data in the ERP system for new products.
  • Populate and maintain the global ERP system with key data, including costed Bills of Material, lead times, and vendor contracts for each NPD item until handoff to purchasing.
  • Monitor supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance during prototype and development phases in alignment with Starline’s NPD gate process.
  • Manage PPAP orders for new parts, coordinating quality inspections and securing approvals from operations and engineering.
  • Collaborate with global sourcing leads to transition purchasing responsibilities to the site once PPAP approval is obtained.
  • Oversee NPD-related Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and sustain ECOs impacting new parts aligned with the 3-year product roadmap.
  • Facilitate technical design reviews with suppliers in collaboration with global sourcing leads to validate part functionality and manufacturability in support of engineering requirements.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:      

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Assent and/or Jagger is a plus.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, operations, sourcing and purchasing, etc).

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25%.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate with others.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; ability to fly for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
