Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Specialist - Shipping to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team in Concord, NC. The Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for materials received and shipped as assigned to location/department in a timely and accurate manner while maintaining accurate records.  Responsible for materials received and shipped into area and responsible for recording production in ASI, preparing intercompany shipments, entering ASI inventory transactions, and assisting other inventory control departments.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Stores:

  • Machines, tools and equipment used: Counting scales (manual and electronic) UPS meter, postage meter, LP and electronic power equipment, computer terminal.
  • Materials used: Cartons, cardboard boxes, shrinkwrap, packing materials, tape,labels.
  • Receives, unpacks and examines goods shipped to establishment and verifies completness of shipments against bills of lading, invoices or POs.
  • Keeps records of goods shipped and received. Routes incoming goods to departments. Ships material from establishment.
  • Load and unload trailers on receiving dock.
  • Receives shipments from outside suppliers.
  • Reconciles product and quantity to manifest.
  • Routes incoming products to designated departments
  • Prepares products for shipments-truck-parcel post-UPS-domestic and export.
  • Originates freight bills and bills of lading.
  • Maintains, publishes and enters receiving information into ASI system against POs.
  • Counts and checks material received in MRO, sorts and distributes to bins, containers or places in storage areas. Assigns location for stock. Fills material requistions promptly and accuratly. Detects defective material, reports shortages or when stock is low.
  • Receives products from receiving or production departments, verifies product and quantity and locations.
  • Pulls products from handwritten tickets, verifies product and quantity and delivers to production departments or shipping.
  • May process Kanban tickets reporting production and consumption.
  • Maintains internal major/minor locations in the data base for plant locations.
  • Flexibility to work in MRO, Shipping Receiving or Cycle Count functions
  • Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products

Manufacturing:

  • Maintain and cycle count floor stock - using scales
  • Machines, tools and equipment used: pallet jacks, fork lifts, ladders, vacuum loaders, scales, dryers, granulators, calculators
  • Materials used: Various assembly and packaging materials including poly, boxes, containers, screws.
  • Responsible for assuring labels, screws, cartons, containers, poly-pro and hardware available for shift production.
  • Handle, stage and maintain flow of all materials to and from machines presses, asssembly and packaaging areas, rework areas and storage racks.
  • Responsible for disposing of trash and corrugation for departments.
  • Follow direction of the area Process Tech, Set up or Lead Person for guidance in prioritizing material flow to and from work centers.
  • Utilize Kanban system to determine priorities concerning materials replenishment.
  • Assures that all substitutions and/or deviations from the production plan are reported correctly.
  • Communicates to the Planner and the Supervisor any production order that cannot be completed due to material shortages, capacity constraints, etc...
  • Runs all travelers. Maintains and controls reorder points for W.I.P. items.
  • Handles inventory issues – ordering materials, initiating transfers for overages and NCRs for rejects.
  • Use of various mechanical equipment and knowledge of job structure (building the products).
  • Maintain accurate raw material inventory, print and fill out scrap reports.
  • Move finish goods as required
  • Maintain accurate inventory and records. Capable of researching materials needed.
  • The quality of the molded plastic part is very dependent upon the use of contamination free material.
  • Maintain high level of housekeeping to 5 S Standards.
  • Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products.
  • All other duties as directed by the Supervisor

Qualifications

Education: High school degree or GED preferred 

 

Experience: Minimum three months manufacturing experience. Must have forklift experience and data entry experience. Must have formal inventory control systems experience.

 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Basic math, reading and writing skills in English
  • Good computer skills
  • Knowledge of ASI System, Matrix and NCR Database preferred
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to stand the majority of the work day.
  • Able to perform repetitive job functions; hand mobility, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity required for assembly and operating tools and machines.
  • Ability to safely operate moving equipment properly without risk to self, others and equipment.
  • Ability and applied knowledge of the Manufacturing Specialist job description.

Personal Protective Equipment Required to be worn:

  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Steel Toed Shoes

Certifications Required: Fork-lift Certification.
