Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the Wattstopper Team. This position is responsible for executing tactical implementations of the Software Center of Excellence DevOps Frameworks, monitoring and processes. This is a mid-level role on a team of DevOps engineers and drives the successful execution of the continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines for deployment of Legrand’s products inclusive of cloud, mobile, desktop web applications, firmware, as well as embedded software on gateway and edge devices. The candidate has experience with virtualization strategies, tools, and their applicability to development productivity and Release uptime. This role helps in developing and sustaining these systems, pipelines, frameworks and processes to mature and release Legrand software used to commission and control best-in-class residential and commercial building control systems. This work encompasses multiple product lines and technologies on a cloudbased PaaS distributed architecture system.


Main Job Duties:
1. Automate system administration, deployment and infrastructure tasks using scripts, tools and IaC (Infrastructure as Code) to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
2. Proactively suggest technical improvements and introduce creative solutions to simplify and streamline engineering and operation processes.
3. Design, build and maintain a stable, efficient infrastructure for dev, QA, and production environments throughout the software development lifecycle.
4. Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously enhance CI/CD, building, packaging, and deployment pipelines.
5. Implement and maintain automated systems for backups, security, infrastructure monitoring, and recovery.
6. Champion a consistent DevOps approach, ensuring quality, repeatability, and automation across the software delivery process.
7. View all activities, including development and deployment, with a security-centric mindset to secure Engineering and Production assets and systems.
8. Contribute robust technical documentation for operational workflows, system processes, troubleshooting, and recovery steps.
9. Provide hands-on support to Product Development teams and assist with day-to-day operational issues.
10. Performs other similar and related duties as required, supporting a culture of shared learning and continous improvement.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills


Education: BS required. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cyber Security preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum 2 years related experience.

 

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.) to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Expertise in automating manual tasks and system administration through programming or scripting (Python, Bash, Windows Batch, Go, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Azure Bicep).
• Ability to create and maintain clear, actionable documentation for processes, workflows, and troubleshooting to supporting team knowledge sharing.
• Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in live and preproduction environments, with proactive solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborative experience with development, QA, and IT teams to drive automation, monitoring, and reliability improvements across the organization.
• Experience sharing technical knowledge and best practices, through documentation or live sessions, fostering a learning environment.
• Familiarity with version control tools (GIT, Bitbucket, TFS) and deployment/configuration management systems (Jenkinsfiles, Azure Pipelines, Ansible, Terraform, Azure Bicep).
• Understanding of the Agile development methodology and hands-on exposure to the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong background in network infrastructure, databases, cloud and data center operations, and modern security protocols (Zero Trust, compliance frameworks).
• Advanced knowledge of Linux system administration, with exposure to Windows and MacOS environments.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud offerings (Azure, AWS) includinginfrastructure management, migration, and automation. 
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization for building and managing engineering and production deployments.
• Deep understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements as part of automated infrastructure and DevOps workflows.
• Strong analytical skills, able to identify trends, implement effective solutions quickly, and drive proactive resolutions.
• Excellent organizational and time management, close attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple priorities independently.
• Advanced problem analysis and resolution capability at functional and strategic levels, leveraging logical or scientific thinking for complex challenges.
• Superb verbal and written communication skills, effective listening, and ability to communicate across all organizational levels.
• Highly collaborative, with a track record of thriving in team-based, goal-focused settings.
• Demonstrated customer orientation and the ability to identify new ways to serve or satisfy customer needs.
