Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Engineer II to join the Data Center, Power, and Control Division in Reno, NV. Under the general direction of the Test Engineering Manager, the Test Engineer II designs, develops, implements, and maintains tests for network interface cards and subcomponents in intelligent power distribution systems. Tests include configuration, calibration, and quality assurance tests at all levels of the product, and recording/reporting test results. Through modern technology, such as AI and machine learning, analyze recorded results to intelligently direct improvements and corrective actions. The Test Engineer II is a mid-level position that also provides production support to make sure that problems related to production testing are resolved promptly. New tests are created for new products, and already existing tests are improved to reduce the error rate. The Test Engineer ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals. The Test Engineer II, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

 

What Will You Do?

  • Develop and execute intelligent software solutions to identify opportunities for improvements in testing environments. Write test scripts to be used to run automated tests and data collection. 
  • Develop and execute routine engineering production test plans for printed circuit board assemblies. 
  • Develop and execute routine characterization plans for printed circuit board assemblies. 
  • Develop test fixtures and circuits required to execute production test plans.  
  • Develop and execute system-level procedures to be used for validating and characterizing new product designs and existing products that have exhibited problems. 
  • Work with the Electrical Engineers and Project Management to determine the root cause of system-level validation failures and propose solutions. 
  • Provide a test summary to the Engineering team of the production test results, along with any necessary corrective actions. 
  • Generate comprehensive test and validation reports.  
  • Participate with Engineering in the creation of test programs to verify performance to specification of new assemblies, peripherals, and products.  
  • Participate in design reviews of printed circuit boards and electro-mechanical assemblies.  
  • Review designs for complete specifications, testability, and test margin. 
  • Support test-related production issues. 
  • Monitor and drive process improvement associated with the production test process. 
  • Support international manufacturing and travel as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University with emphasis in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience, preferably in a similar industry.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or other machine learning frameworks 
  • Strong development skills to plan, develop, deploy, and iterate.  
  • Experience designing, developing, and debugging software in a .NET environment. 
  • Strong .NET or C/C++ programming and debugging skills. 
  • Fluency in one or more scripting languages. 
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/ Project). 
  • Self-management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the company, including Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, Operations, and Sales. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills, and the ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, meters, function generators, etc. 
  • Strong internet networking skills and protocol knowledge. 
  • Project management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks. 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working on live high voltage circuits. 
  • Able to read and interpret PCB schematics. 
  • Familiarity with electronic components and electric circuits. 
  • Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.
