Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer II to join Legrand Data Power & Control, Starline Team in Tuas, Singapore.

 

The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing and executing category strategies at a local or cluster level. This position should lead sourcing activities within the context of category strategies, manage relations with local stakeholders (internally and externally), ensure compliance to agreed strategies, and act as an ambassador of Supply Chain. Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline, through proven purchasing practices. Demonstrates experience in negotiations.

 

 

Main Job Duties:

  • Manages supplier relationships and works to improve “overall” supplier performance.
  • Plans and issues purchase orders in support of engineering and production requirements.
  • Works with strategic sourcing & engineering on product design to manufacture transitions.
  • Manage purchasing activities to ensure that sufficient parts are on hand to meet short range schedules for make-to-order products. Expedite as needed.
  • Monitors and communicates supplier performance for delivery, quality and cost management.
  • Implement commodity strategies to ensure long-term, cost-effective supply of materials.
  • Research potential Suppliers and/or Service Providers to meet sourcing requirements, as applicable.
  • Maintains Supplier Management processes (e.g. qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification); update supplier evaluation systems to obtain and the best suppliers and ensure transparency
  • Establishes inventory requirements by studying manufacturing history and production forecasts.
  • Contributes to the implementation and ensure usage of globally defined methods, processes, and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance.
  • Identifies and follows-up on internal customer issues, implement approved process improvements resulting in increased customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other Procurement-related administrative tasks including, but not limited to, Invoice Discrepancy Resolution, Payment Authorizations, inventory levels, safety stocks.
  • Drive cost savings and/or productivity initiatives with assigned categories. Drive CSR initiatives in supply chain.
  • Leads QBR’s with suppliers, as needed.
  • Lead supplier negotiations; evaluations; changes in strategy.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or BS degree or Business equivalent years of experience preferred.
  • Certified Purchasing Management (CPM) certification desired.
  • Three to Five years purchasing materials in a manufacturing environment.
  • MRP or ERP software experience required. Infor CloudSuite preferred.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
